I didn't want to say this over the list, but for some reason,
attempting to mail the author privately bounced.

WARNING: Mildly offensive flame, and Evangelion spoilers approaching.
If you don't want to see either, skip this post.

I've come to the conclusion that the author of this story has never
actually *seen* Evangelion. It's the only possible explanation for
the completely out-of-character cast...no. I refuse to accept the
cast of this fanfic as the Evangelion cast, because they are *not*.
There's OOC, and then there's OOC. There's cases where it can be
explained away, and cases where there's no explanation for it. This
is one of the latter. The characterization in this fanfic is so
completely wrong it's disgusting. Rei would never have the same
emotions as a normal teenage girl, because she doesn't know how to
deal with emotions. She can be emotional around Gendou, and to a
lesser extent around Shinji, and there are certain things which set
her off, but to show typical schoolgirl emotions? Sorry, that would
only happen in an alternate reality of Evangelion. Not to mention the
characterization of Asuka, or the idea of Asuka having sex with
Shinji. None of this would occur in the standard Evangelion universe.

Which, since the author never specifically stated that this is an
alternate universe, I can assume is not the case. Even if this *were*
an alternate universe, it would *still* be a stretch.

Not to mention the incongruity with the series itself. To be blunt,
there *is* no "After the Angels" involved where Evangelion is
concerned. Third Impact took care of that. Whether you go by the
original ending, or the End of Evangelion ending, it basically
amounts to the end of humanity as we know it.

The bottom line: I'd say "nice try", but that's more than this
deserves. It needs, at best, a complete rewrite. It might also help
if the author actually watched some Evangelion.
