Now for the question.  What exactly is Ranko?

In the process of writing a fanfic i ran into a bit of a aproblem when i
tried to write a discription of Ranko.  To be more specific as to what
my problem was...what nationality is she?

While i've seen a few of the begining tv episodes i dont think i've run
into an explanation of this and i've gotten a bit mixed up as to exactly
what the curse did to Ran
