Please could you tell me how you get your mailer to sort these subject
headers below so they wind up next to eachother? I only ask because I could
not get Messy Explorer(MSIE) to do that.
I don't know about MSIE, but there's a simple way to change the subject
headers of your messages to whatever you want. Simply forward the
message to yourself, retyping the subject header as you do so. You can
also edit out any authors' notes or whatever else you don't want this
way. Just be careful that your word wrapping is set at least as many
characters per line as the message has, or you'll get chopped-off lines.
Alternately, save the fics in files, and edit the files.
I just thought it saves time if one person edits things at the source rather
than everyone who wants to keep the story to edit it individually. Less
man-hours are involved that way.
Maybe, but there are valid reasons why authors put announcements and
such in their fics. So one's meat may be another's poison in this
regard. There is no one preference on the FFML for how the various
readers would like the subject headers of fics to look.

Actually, you and just about nobody else would thank us for it. When
you want the *final* version of the fic, you go to the RAAC archives
or web sites for it. The notices are attached to FFML versions
because they're *not* the final version of the fic.
I don't have web access. Just Email and usenet. Not everyone has an
'anything-you-can-eat' account. I cannot afford the money.
RAAC is a usenet group. Rec.arts.anime.creative . And authors will
usually E-mail you their fics if you ask (but don't do so on the list,
please.) :)
Was I dictating? I thought I was only politely asking people to post the
message headers the way the FAQ says people should anyway. Sorry if I caused
any offence.
I don't see any harm in asking, and Lurker-san *was* unnecessarily harsh
IMO, but whether a good idea or not, people standardizing their fic
posts seems rather unlikely to happen.
