Ryoga: Possibilities 1/2
by Cat

Chapter 2

Wake up, Ryoko. Akane said as she gently prodded her new roommate
awake. She hadnt been surprised to find the girl underneath the
covers, asleep, almost
hiding herself, not after the way she had acted last night. Jeesh,
youd think she had
never seen another girl change clothes before.
Ryoga woke instantly. As recent events returned to memory and she
remembered where exactly she was, she decided that staying huddled under
the covers
was perhaps the best place to remain for the time being. She and Ranma
had been
completely unable to deter Akane from having Ryoko stay in her room.
The fact that
neither one of them had been able to come up with a single decent
argument against it
hadnt helped. Finally, Ryoga had decided that there was only one
possible solution.
Give in. It was obvious Akane liked herat least as a friend, something
Ryoga had
very few of, and she wasnt going to ruin it over nothing, no matter
what Ranma said!
Besides, it was ok, they were both girls after all. Even to Ryoga this
seemed
rather strained logic, however, admittedly with some struggle, she was
able to convince
herself that it was only for Akanes benefit. Someone needed to watch
out for her,
especially with Ranma around.
Ranma on the other hand, had different feelings. He had expressed
these the
previous night in the solemn and tactful way in which he handled
everything.
Theres no way Im letting a PERVERT like you sleep with Akane!!! he
yelled, rather loudly. They were currently both seated in the dinning
room. Dinner had
finished and as the rest of the family had begun to leave Ranma had
quickly cobbled up
a rather shaky story about wanting to catch up on old times with his
high school friend.
It was thus that the two had been left alone as the rest of the family
slipped into their
nightly routine.
Im no PERVERT!!! Ryoga screamed back (she had always had a rather
quick temper), Its you whos the pervert Ranma! Treating Akane like
you do, when
shes your fianc!!! Ryoga was now yelling at the top of her lungs.
Things only went
down hill from there.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, the
screaming
match hadnt quite had time to degenerate into anything more violent
when the loud
noises attracted the rest of the household. The two would be combatants
noticed their
audience at almost the exact same time.
Ryoko, Ranma, whats going on here? Soun asked in his patented
worried/annoyed/about to burst into tears voice.
Ummm, Ranma stumbled for a response.
The reason for what happened next will probably never be truly known.
Perhaps the great Nabiki made a mistake. Perhaps, for once, she
misinterpreted the
facts, jumped to a wrong conclusion, did something stupid. Or perhaps
no error was
made at all, but a calculated move in a complex game only a true master
could
understand. Whatever the reason, what happened next would go down in
history as one
of the biggest misinterpretation of reality ever concieved in the minds
of mortal man (or,
in this case, woman.)
Cant you see daddy, Nabiki spoke with her typical sarcastic tone.
The one
that gave the listener the feeling that, not only were they missing
something, but they
had never had it in the first place.
Seeing Souns lost look, she added, Who do they remind you of?
Everyone
was giving her a completely blank stare now.
She tried again, Let me put it this way. Which other two individuals
in this
house fight, yell, and scream at each other on a constant basis? Now
everyone was
staring. Kasumi, in her typical helpful way, spoke up.
Why theyre acting just like Ranma and Akane.
There was a pause as silence descended. Everyone looked from Ryoga, to
Ranma, to Akane, and back. Soun, surprisingly, was the first to get it.
SAOTOME!!!, he said as he grew to monster size screaming at a very
terrified panda, WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME RANMA HAD ANOTHER
FIANCEE!!!
Genma, for his part, simply cowered on the floor. Desperately he held
up a
sign as he tried to cover his head with his hands.
<<The boy never told me, I didnt even know he was dating>>
Were not engaged! Ranma screamed defensively as he caught on to what
was going on. Ryoga, for her part, could only stare in shock.
So thats what you meant when you said you were not exactly friends
Akane said, giving Ryoga a strange look. Your not dating now are you?
she asked
seeming slightly worried. Ryoga, not knowing exactly what to do, simply
shook her
head.
For a split second a look of relief crossed her face followed instantly
by one of
compassion. So how long have you two been broken up for? she asked.
As Akane attempted to discover the details from an extremely confused
Ryoga
Ranma was having troubles of his own. Both Soun and Genma had began a
startling
barrage of attacks that, though one-hundred percent verbal, could very
easily be
classified as one of the many bizarre Anything Goes fighting styles.
With question after
question, accusation after accusation, they drove Ranma back.
How long have you two been dating?
	How far have you gone?
You disgrace your families honor by your actions.
Where did I fail you boy!?
As a direct consequence of this unexpected and devastating attack Ranma
was
completely unable to lend assistance to Ryoga, which, in the grand
tradition of complete
understatement, was a pity. Ryoga was left to field Akanes question
with only her wits
to help her. Needless to say (though it will be said anyways) she was
almost completely
unarmed.
WeIt hasnt beenwe werentnot, I mean, Ryoga stuttered
grasping for some answer that wouldnt be taken the wrong way. Starting
to panic she
placed her hand behind her head and began laughing hysterically.
Finally, completely
unable to cope with the situation, and being Ryoga, she did the only
thing she could
think of. She ran. Notably, this was perhaps the single worst thing
she could have done
in this situation.
Akane followed immediately, mistaking her panic for the emotional
scarring of
a newly broken heart, determined to help the poor girl who had been so
ruthlessly
crushed by that heartless Ranma. Ranma, still completely oblivious to
the preceding
circumstances continued his attempt to fend off the enraged Soun and
Genma.
Dad, Mr. Tendou stop it! Kasumi spoke up. The shock of hearing her
raise
her voice was enough to penetrate even through the incredible collection
of thick skulls
represented by the three men before her. They were never engaged,
Ranma just said so.
No wonder he was so against a fianc, especially when he and Ryoga had
just broken up.
Now, you two leave Ranma alone, they obviously arent a couple anymore,
so you need
not worry. Slowly, both Soun and Genma relaxed, and Kasumis Look of
Mild
Annoyance faded to be replaced by one of her standard Isnt Life
Wonderful looks.
Ranma, on the other hand, went from This is All a Big Misunderstanding
Please Leave
Me Alone immediately into This Cant Possibly be Happening.
Whaddya mean not a couple ANYMORE, we were never dating! his voice
went up several levels as he yelled at those watching.
Ranma, please! Nabikis voice conveyed her utter lack of belief, the
girl not
only just confirmed it, but ran out of here practically in tears.
Surely you dont expect us
to believe you.
She what! Ranma couldnt believe this was happening. Whatever she
said
its a Lie! We were just friends! he frantically searched for even the
slightest sign that
someone believed even the smallest thing he was saying. Not
surprisingly, in vain.
I cant believe this!!! he was really freaking out now, Theres no
way, no
way, that I would ever go out with thatthat, he trailed off, taking
another look at
their disbelieving faces. Rolling her eyes Nabiki walked out of the
room. Kasumi, once
again sure of the sanctity of the universe began to hum a pleasant tune
as she picked up
her sowing, completely oblivious to Ranmas panic. Feeling better at
Kasumis
reassurance and ignoring his horrified son, Genma pulled out a Shogi
board, and,
looking over at Soun, immediately began setting up the board to play.
Soun himself was still not at all happy about the arrangement. It was
bad
enough that another unattached female was now living under his roof, but
to find out
that she was his future son-in-laws ex-girlfriend was almost too much
for his never-to-
stable emotional state. However, Kasumi did say everything was going to
be alright,
and Ranma certainly didnt seem all that happy about them discovering
their
relationship. Finally, as the Shogi board began to call his name, he
decided that
everything would work out for the best, it always did.
Ranma, disgusted, decided that there was only one way to settle this.
He would
find Ryoga and get him to admit his curse. Ranma had almost told them
himself when
he heard what the others were saying, but he had resisted, his honor
holding him back.
The solution though, was simple. There was no way Ryoga liked what the
others were
thinking any more than he did. If this didnt convince her that
revealing the curse was
the only way, well, Ranma would convince her in other, more direct,
ways.

Where could she be? Akane was extremely confused. She had seen Ryoga
run
off this direction only a few seconds ago. There werent that many
places to hide, and
the only way out was past her. She had to be here.
From somewhere up ahead Akane heard a thump. Racing to the source of
the
sound she opened the hall closet. A rather confused and flustered
looking Ryoga fell
out.
Why were you in the closet? Akane asked, her surprise causing her to
temporarily forget her original reasons for following the lost girl.
Iuhwell, Ryoga stumbled over her words, once again completely
embarrassed as she tried to come up with a good explanation.
Its because she couldnt find her way out of a cardboard box. Akane
whirled
as Ranma walked up from behind. He ignored, or perhaps simply failed to
see the
violent look she threw at him. Why did you say we were dating!? he
yelled at the still
flustered Ryoga.
I didnt! Ryoga shot back defensively.
Ryoko, its obvious you two broke up just recently, Akane broke in
with a
soothing tone. Theres no reason to deny it, I dont think any less of
you just because
you made the mistake of dating a pervert, Akane made a deliberate
effort to completely
ignore Ranma as she was speaking.
But, we were never dating! Ranma yelled again. Akane just rolled her
eyes,
stuck up her nose, and grabbing Ryoga walked off to bed.
Ranma was furious. How dare that little fang-faced, no good, pathetic
excuse
for a girl do this to him. After watching Akane drag Ryoga back to
their now shared
room Ranma almost flew out the door, completely ignoring the still
pouring rain and his
inevitable change. Sitting in her favorite spot on the Tendou roof,
legs crossed in the
lotus position, she tried to calm her nerves.
After what seemed to her like hours, but were, in fact, actually hours,
she had
calmed enough to begin to think once more. It must be noted here that
Ranmas brain
was in no way used to the unusual strains that had been put on it
throughout the day. It
had been called upon to do more work in the last several hours than it
was usually asked
to do in months. Not only that, but he had not known Akane very long at
all, though it
seemed to Ranma that it had been years. Thus she can be excused for
what follow.
<So, Ryogas gonna pretend to be a girl then,>
<There is no way hes gonna be able to take it for long. Sooner or
later hell
crack, or screw up. Then Ive got him and hell have to admit the
curse,> the more he
thought about it the more he was sure of it.
<Akanes pretty quick, (at least she seems to catch whenever Im hiding
something)> he
added the last with only a hint of bitterness.
<How long can the guy keep such an obvious thing a secret anyway? I
dont
have to tell anyone myself, all I have to do is wait.>
It was thus that a much more relaxed, confident, even smug, Ranma
returned
from out in the rain to the now quiet Tendou household.

Get up its almost time for school, Akane said as she grabbed the
covers and
yanked them off the tiny girl still lying in bed. Ryoga tried to shut
her eyes but it was
too late, Akane was standing directly over herwearing a jogging
outfit.
Good morning Akane, Ryoga said trying to sound pleasant, but her
heart
wasnt in it. Sheer necessity had forced her into her cursed form for
long periods of
time now and again on her travels, but she had never enjoyed it. Couple
that with the
disastrous events of last night and the fact that she was going to have
to face Ranma
today, well, suffice to say she wasnt looking forward to getting up.
Come on down for breakfast whenever your ready, Akane said, still in
a very
good mood, as she walked out of the room. A few seconds passed, then,
slowly Ryoga
carefully got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. Once inside
she got
carefully got undressed and began to prepare a bath. Hesitating briefly
over the faucet
she finally settled on cold. She didnt think it likely that anyone
would walk in on her
when she was taking a bath, but stranger things had happened. Besides,
she was used to
the cold anyway, there wasnt a water heater in a mountain stream.
Trying to avoid taking too good a look at herself she slid into the
tub, wincing
only slightly as the chilly water made contact with her skin. Once
again her eyes
wandered to the sink mirror. The sight of the incredibly attractive and
completely nude
female that met her eyes would have caused the old Ryoga severe blood
loss. Her curse
however, had changed her more than she liked to admit.
Over the past weeks she had been forced to interact as a girl for long
periods at
a time. There were places shed been where it seemed the rain never
ceased, forcing her
to stay a girl for much longer periods of time than Ranma had probably
yet faced. Shed
interacted as a girl quite a bit, though never by choice, and as time
went by, almost
without her noticing, she began to loose her all encompassing loss of
self control around
women. Not that she could be said to be up to par, but she also
wouldnt collapse at the
mere hint flesh anymore either.
As she began to wash she tried to decide what to do about Ranma. She
realized
now that simply agreeing to be friends wasnt going to work. The
current
misunderstanding was another problem. On this though, Ryoga wasnt all
that worried.
All she had to do was explain to the Tendos that they had just been
friends. That
particular dilemma had a simple solution and didnt need to be worried
about. As for
how to get along with that arrogant pervert. Well, she knew she would
act honorably, it
was almost all up to him really.
Finishing up her bath she put on a new pair of traveling clothes. Not
that
anyone could tell seeing as how all of her outfits looked exactly the
same, but still
cleanliness, when she could get it, was something she enjoyed. As she
dressed she
allowed herself another look in the mirror. She was almost exactly the
same height as
Ranmas girl form. Her hair was about shoulder length and jet black,
with not the
slightest hint of a curl. Upon close inspection (any guy would probably
decide that this
was a necessity) one would probably conclude that she was at least as
cute as Ranma.
Ryoga herself, though naturally a very self-depreciated person, had long
come to grips
with the fact that she was one of the most attractive females she had
ever seen. To the
lost boy this was not a ego booster.
After tying up her leg bindings and brushing her teeth, (a martial
artists has to
keep good dental hygiene) she finished tying off by tying her hair back
in a pony tail
with her bandana. She had discovered that somehow, whenever she changed
to female
it would always end up that way. Not that she minded really, but it was
just one more in
a long list of really weird things involving her curse. Luckily it
worked both ways and
as soon as she shifted back to guy it would go back to its original use
around her head.
After a brief search of the bathroom she was able to find her way back
out into
the hall (there was only one door so it took her only a few minutes) and
began her search
for the dinning room.
She discovered it in remarkable time owing mainly to the sounds of
fighting
that seemed to be emanating from the back yard. As she approached she
was just in
time to see what looked to be an out and out fight between Ranma and his
father. It
was not without a measure of disappointment that she noted that neither
of the two
martial artists had yet to be unlucky enough to have any encounters with
the pond.
Breakfast is ready, Kasumis yell caused an instant end to the
fighting as
both of the martial artists decided that food outweighed all other
concerns.
Ranma, seeing Ryoga still standing near the door, gave the nervous girl
a
smile. He noted with no little joy the way she seemed to flinch back,
almost as if it had
been an attack. Which, in a way, it had been.
Unfortunately for Ranma, his pleasure was short lived as Genma, seeing
his son
distracted, took the opportunity to give him a quick sidekick sending
him flying into the
pond. He then proceeded to help himself to Ranmas breakfast, a
reasonable reward for
his superior tactics.
Ryoga, upon witnessing these events, was very willing to return a smile
of her
own to the soaked redhead, glaring at her father. Feeling more
confident she joined the
others at the breakfast table.
So, Ryoko, where exactly do you get your money from anyway? Nabiki
asked
as the bandana girl sat down. Let it never be said that Nabiki Tendou
foolishly wasted
time with meaningless pleasantries.
Nabiki! Akane was annoyed with her sister, ever since Ryoko had shown
up
shed been nothing but rude. shes our guest after all.
Of course, please forgive me. Nabiki said without the slightest of
apology in
her voice. So, where from?
I get a regular allowance from my parents. They worked it out so
money
would be put directly in my bank account every month. I dont use that
much of it,
she trailed off. The fact was, she never used any of it. Now and
then, when she was
lucky enough to find a bank she might withdraw some cash, but mostly she
just lived off
the land. She was a martial artist after all.
They must be rich, Nabiki noted with some interest.
I guessmaybe, Ryoga returned with a shrug, not too interested.
Maybe? Nabiki asked incredulously, Dont you know? she seemed
rather
surprised at Ryogas lack of enthusiasm.
Well, not really, I dont exactly see them much, this conversation
was
become much to personal for Ryogas liking.
Why not? Nabiki said, deliberately ignoring the small girls obvious
discomfort.
Nabiki! Akane had had enough. She wasnt exactly surprised by this,
not
much could surprise her when it came to her sister and money, but that
didnt mean she
was going to let her continue to badger her new friend.
Nabiki might have continued her badgering, or perhaps not, as Few can
know
the mind of Nabiki, however their conversation was cut off by an
excessively loud cry of
triumph. The redhead had, for the past few minutes, been fighting a hard
battle for the
last of the pickles. Her victories in this particular war were rare, as
the old man usually
ate the pickle so fast Ranma didnt even get a chance. This time
however she had cut
him off with a leg sweep from the side (consequently knocking Genma into
the pond)
and had deftly grabbed the chopsticks right out of his hands. After a
decent bit of
taunting the now victorious Ranma joined the other three girls at the
table.
So how was your beauty sleep Ryoko? she asked her voice dripping with
innocence.
Shut up Ranma! Ryoga might be out of her league when it came to
fending
off Nabikis questioning, but she knew just how to react to Ranma.
Stop it Ranma, your eating like an animal! Akane said forcefully as
Ranma
ate her breakfast at Olympic caliber rates.
Whadya mean, I always eat like this. Ranma said between scoops of
rice.
Id think youd be a little more polite now that we have company.
Especially
seeing as how shes your old girl friend. Akane said in a very
self-righteous voice.
If Ranma could have been in the Olympic eating competition both she and
Ryoga should have been given a gold in synchronized spitting for the way
they both
choked on their rice at the exact same instant.
Shes not my old girlfriend! Ranma yelled at Akane.
This is so ridiculous. How can you possibly deny something so
obvious. No
one believes it Ranma, least of all me. Akane said in a scathing
tone. Ryoga was about
to come to Ranmas rescue when once again the redhead decided that the
best possible
place for her foot would be her mouth. So she would place it there
now.
Well, who cares what a Tomboy like you thinks anyway! Ranma
retorted,
with oh so much originality.
RANMA!!! Akane clenched her fists in rage.
Your just so uncute it probably rots your brains. I guess it isnt
your fault your
so dumb after all. Ryoga was surprised, that was pretty original, at
least for the Ranma
he knew. She must have been up all night on that one. Akane, on the
other hand, was
obviously not feeling equally original. To Ryogas amazement she almost
instantly
pulled out an incredibly large mallet and flattened Ranma into the
floor, amazingly
causing very little damage to the floorboards in the process. Looking
at the prone figure
of the disfigured martial artists she almost felt sorry for now pancaked
girl, almost.
Lets get going Ryoko, you dont want this pervert make you late to
your first
day of school. Akane once again grabbed Ryoga by the arm as she stalked
away from
Ranma.
As they left the dojo and began to head toward school Ryoga frantically
tried to
think of how to get out of this one. There was no way she was going to
school as a girl.
Bad enough that she had to pretend when at the Tendos, if she had to
endure it all day,
every day, at school she knew she would loose it. Besides, there was an
almost one
hundred percent chance that someone would find out eventually. Gym
class on the first
day would guarantee that.
No, going to school was right out. Not that she could see Akane
listening to
any explanation she could give. There had to be a way though, and she
had to figure it
out within the next few minutes.
