Before I send out Episode 2, I felt the need to say a few words.  OK, more
than a few words.  FINE, a LOT of words!

Sheesh.

Where did the idea for this fiction series come from?  Well, there's that
Tenchi Muyo continuation Michael Chen wrote, that ends up with Tokimi
chasing after Tenchi as well, and Tenchi finally admitting that he really
loves Ryoko (small cheer) when it occured to me that while the girls are
asking Tenchi to give up a great deal for them, they haven't really given up
a great deal for him...if you look at it the right way.

So...that led me to think about what they WOULD do for him...and it flowed
from there into the idea of Ryoko trying to make herself into an ordinary
girl for Tenchi.  That led me to the idea of college.  OK, I was re-reading
DnR/DnU and KOC at the time, I'll admit it.  I would love the idea to write
a fic like that, but....

If you look at DnR and KOC, they both assume that the original events have
been resolved for the most part.  I'll admit, DnR's way of doing it is
original, but still, it's history.  A college continuation of Tenchi Muyo
would require me to do the same.  So when I was figuring it out, it got so
complex I decided I might as well write a fic about Tenchi's high school, or
at least how things were resolved.

Right about that time, Zen released LAWR2, and intermingled with another
idea that had been rattling around my head.  In the AMS fanfiction archives,
there's an AMS/Ranma/???? crossover fic in which Urd is a teacher at a
rather...unique high school.  Neat idea.  Zen's concept of other anime
characters making cameos or being part of the fic in a modified form
appealed to me, so I decided to use it to the extent that the AMS fic did.

And Konton High School was born.  Konton literally translates into
Chaos/Confusion.

How far did I go?  Well, I originally planned for the other anime characters
to be mere color characters, there for comic relief and cameos.  But when I
was designing some friends for Ryoko, something interesting happened.  One I
intended to be an innocent girl with WAY too much energy, a cheery
disposition, and a heart of gold.  The next was supposed to be a shy, sweet,
quiet girl, who was essentially a moderating influence.  The third was
supposed to be flippant, hot-tempered, and overly protective of her friends.

I looked at the designs, and said,  "Hmm...the Magic Knights Rayearth.  Why
not?"

Just to be clear, I'm not having them pull swords out of gems or go casting
Honno no Yaa around.  Just some aspects, like Fuu's relation with Ferrio
(this is first series kids) were kind of welcome.

Other color characters?  Since we're dealing with Tenchi's LAST year of high
school, I decided to put most of the nutcases in lower grades.  Who do we
have?  Sailor Moon (Inner Senshi only, thank you very much), DNA^2,
Escaflowne, and Lum UY.  Who did I reject?  Well...a) Ranma & Co's antics
are on the school-wide scale.  I was uneasy about using Lum's group for the
same reason, but I decided they'd be controllable.  b) I was bouncing around
the concept of having the cast of Irresponsible Captain Tylor for the
teaching staff, but it would have been a little TOO weird.  Same thing for
Martian Successor Nadesico..besides, where would Akiko go?  c) There will be
NO androids or mecha in this fic.  Sorry B-ko/Nuku Nuku fans.

I'll probably do other anime as well...and probably some fanfic authors as
well, if I feel like it and they let me.  (Guess who Hikaru's boyfriend is?
^_^)

But please, don't forget, this is a story about Ryoko and Tenchi first.
