To Each His Own
---------------

Above his head was a clear summer sky. The gentle overlapping clouds
pleasingly blossomed everything up the horizon. The morning sun was
cheerfully seeping through the breaks in them, as if reaching down on the
earth, warming it with it's elegant glow. The flowers and the trees were
glistening, as where the fishes in the pond below. The soothing water was
inviting and fresh for one's sights to bear. It was truly a beautiful day.

Unfortunately he didn't feel the same way. Ranma lay flat on his back, his
arms behind his head as he looked helplessly lost at the vast heaven. He
frowned at a deep thought had again crept up in his mind. "Damn it. Why
don't they ever leave me alone?"

Akane looked at him worryingly about his short yet forceful outburst. "What
is it, Ranma?" She looked down on him, but he didn't return the favor.
"Don't let them get to you."

"What am I suppose to do?" Ranma turned the other way.

"Well, you could ask them to stop." He immediately turned around,
confronting his fiance.

"That didn't work before." Akane knew he was right, and both sighed
discontentedly. He sat up, bringing his knees up to his chin. Akane wanted
to feel his pain, his despair. She would instantly be hugging him now, if
only she didn't discover her pet pig on the roof again. "Oh, Akane. I'm
sick of this."

"What are you going to do then?"

Ranma looked at her, taking her hand with his. She held her breath in
anticipation. He leaned towards her. Hoping to gather the courage to say
it out loud. For years he had contemplated the thought. Impossible at
first, but little by little he had considered it more and more as the days
go by. His mornings were never the same. The afternoons were forever
change. Even in the slumber of the night, he didn't feel safe anymore. He
needed to be firm. He was resolute. He now had seen the light.

"From now on, Akane." Ranma didn't let go, "I'm going to collect royalties
from all those fanfic authors. Maybe that will stop them." Akane stared
transfixed and emotionless. The decision was harsh, she knew as much.

"What will Rumiko say?"

"We'll split it all, fifty-fifty." Akane took her hand away. "Huh?"

"And what about the rest of us? We're victims too, you know." Ranma
scratched his head. Akane pushed her piglet away as she crossed her arms in
mock protest.

"Well, if you marry me, we can share the profits." Akane almost couldn't
believe what she had just heard. Was that a proposal? Did it sound sincere
and serious?

"Ok." Akane wasn't going to give any other answer. Ranma smiled and she
smiled with him.

"Well, that takes care of that problem." Ranma stood up, offering a hand
towards his future wife. "Wanna go out or something?"

"Sure." She took his hand and fumbled to get up herself. Eventually, they
found themselves in each other's embrace. "Ranma?"

"What is it?"

"Does this mean we're not going to have anymore of those voting polls
again?" He showed uneasiness.

"I guess so."

"Oh, I see." Ranma lifted her chin up, looking at the sadness in her eyes.

"Did you like those voting polls?" She hesitated to answer.

"I don't know. Sometimes, it's nice to see great work being appreciated
even further by these polls. But..." Ranma knew exactly what she wanted to
say.

"Don't tell me you like that all girl show about planets?" Ranma was
teasing her.

"It's Sailor Moon, and it's not about planets. They're just named..."
Ranma held his arms high, giving up before she brought out her mallet again.

"Geez. Don't get too emotional over nothing, Akane."

"Oh, yeah. From a guy who cried watching Tenchi Muyo in Love, who's being
too emotional, eh?" Ranma felt hurt.

"Hey, don't tell me you didn't cry too." Akane crossed her arms, looking
sternly at him. Ranma stayed quiet. A whole minute passed.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Ranma spoke first.

"Manatsu no Eve?" Akane's eyes widen in delight. Ranma nodded in
agreement. The two jumped off the roof almost immediately after agreeing.

P-chan was left alone again, up on the cold roof, under the hot scorching
afternoon sun.
