*SIGH* The Hiryu Shoten Ha's principle, as discussed by Cologne, is a
collision of hot and cold. If properly done and if your opponent is
hotter than you are (temperature wise, you smart arses), then the
technique will succeed. I'm not sure how anyone or anything can
defeat
the technique. I'm not even sure if anyone has the mechanics down.
Confused yet? Hotter vs. Cooler = Technique Success. Or so it's
been
explained to me this way.
*SIGH* The Hiryu Shoten Ha is a collision of hot and cold _CHI_ and
that
chi manifests itself as a battle aura. Yes, heat _may_ be able to take
the
place of the battle aura (though that's never been reliably proven) but
the
technique has only been preformed on people manifesting battle auras.
The
principle is Hot vs. Cold = big whirlwind, but the technique has only
been
used on angry people (anger=hot chi=battle aura) Also you're assuming
that
the Angel was, in fact, hotter than Unit 01. If that wasn't the case
the
technique would not have worked either.

Okay, then answer me this: If you're really mad (which most people who
get caught up in the technique are) HOW do you calm down enough to NOT
get caught up in the technique? No matter how fast Herb moves (unless
he's a Dragon Ball Z reject) he won't be able to avoid it. I don't care
WHAT you're heritage is (part dragon my ass) you STILL won't be able to
calm down in time. And the few seconds you get in realization of what
Ranma is doing is NOT enough to calm yourself down to have a cooler ki
than Ranma (after all, he HAS had the oppurtunity to learn how to cool
his ki down quite a bit).
Don't mean to be a nuisance, but I just GOTTA have answers. Good
answers, no 'The Angel's don't have battle auras'. Mainly because
that's bull. Any living thing (and I use the term loosely for the
angels) has a battle-aura. Thus why Ms. Hinako is able to drain all the
students.
