Cows would fly first.  Akane deals with insults by stomping the 

insulter.

She has too much self-esteem to become anorexic.

Actually, Akane's self-esteem could be debated.  Dealing with insults
by "stomping the insulter"  could be seen as the response of a person 
who just received a blow that was too close to the mark.  Keep in mind 
that, as has been mentioned frequently here, Ranma's insults are far
worse in Japan than they are in America, especially the classic 
"kawaiikune".

Akane has a record of overreacting, *especially* when the insult strikes 
at something she's afraid might be true (lousy cook, slow fighter, 
uncute).  If she ever believed that Ranma really felt that way about her 
(as opposed to the usual banter), she might very well go all-out to lose 
weight...which is the first step to an eating disorder.
