Ugh...I don't know if I'd want to do it that way. Especially since
the
Japanese doesn't seem to give me an idea of a Bronx dilect..

Well the whole question of replacing dialects with accents isn't
about
sound so much as feel. Kansai for instance has been considered to
have a
reputation similar to texas here in the US so a texas accent is an
approximation. So the real trick is to ID what the steriotypes of
the Osaka
region are and pick an accent by which part of the US has the most
similar
steriotypes.

Being a native Texan, I'm fittin' to agree with this, y'all. ^_^
Okay, okay, being serious...I'll agree here. In general, the Osaka
dialect has always, in my experience, been represented in dubs (good
dubs anyway) as a Southern speech pattern. Take Ukyo in the Ranma 1/2
dub, for instance. The Southern tone isn't overblown, but it's there.
A Kansai dialect, such as Caldina from Rayearth, would probably most
likely be affected as a Texan drawl...actually, that brings to mind
an interesting image of Caldina dressed in Western wear, Justin Roper
boots, and a cowboy hat...<chuckle> I'm getting off-topic here.
Anyway, Kansai would be a Texan accent, and other less specific Osaka
dialects would resemble the speech patterns common in Alabama and
Georgia, as well as the rest of the south (except Louisiana...)

Now, y'all reckon we can put this thread out of its misery? It's
gettin' a little tired, an' I figger it's probably pissed in Tybalt's
Post Toasties by now...
