Snowflakes
By Kiwi Noriega

Akane woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. It seemed like any other
Saturday morning. She yawned and reluctantly got up from her warm bed. She
washed and took a quick shower. Akane toweled herself off and changed. She
combed her hair and looked out the window. Her mouth hung open and with
child like wonder, Akane stared across the yard covered with snow. Akane
wasted no time and ran out of her room, yelling to the household that there
was snow. As she ran past the rooms, she only saw Ranma's confused look as
she passed by.
	Akane smiled as she got out into the yard. It was so beautiful and quiet;
it was like someone had put a blanket of pure white on everything. Since
she was a child she had loved snow so much, playing with her sisters and
her mom. She remembered how Kasumi and Nabiki would always gang up on her
and throw so many snowballs that she'd end up crying. What she really loved
about snow is the memory of her mom; playing with her and helping her hit
her sisters. Akane wiped away a small tear and stretched. Nothing was going
to ruin her day, nothing-
A blast of cold hit her head and as Akane turned, anger hot enough to melt
the snow blazed her up. When Akane looked at the person responsible, her
anger disappeared. Ranma was right there in front of her laughing. Her
impulse was to stalk over there and hit him as hard as she could, but there
was something about how Ranma laughed that made Akane stop and just watch
him.
Ranma laughed, he had hit Akane straight at the head and she looked so
funny, he couldn't stop himself. A voice suddenly called from the sundeck.
"Breakfast's ready!"
Ranma stood still and for once, he didn't race to the dining room and
stuff his mouth full of food. Something was keeping him from rushing into
the house, but he didn't know what. He looked back at the house and
shouted, "Don't hog all the food, pop!" Ranma turned around to tease Akane
and jumped back a step when she was right in front of him, smiling very
cutely at him.
Ranma got suspicious and said, "Did I hit you too hard on the head or
somethin'?" Ranma prepared for an attack the moment his words left his
mouth, but to his surprise, Akane only smiled deeper. She took a few steps
forward and said,
	"You hungry, Ranma?"
Ranma slowly nodded his head and said, "Yes...why?" He wasn't prepared for
what Akane was about to do; his only warning was Akane's voice saying, "Eat
this!"
A snowball appeared out of nowhere and hit him right at the face in full
force. He shook the snow away and when he finally looked up, Akane was
running and giggling through the yard.
He smiled and yelled, "So you wanna play rough, huh?!" He bent down and
got a huge amount of snow and ran after her.
They ran for a few minutes, occasionally hitting someone with a packed
snowball. All of a sudden, Akane turned and stuck her tongue out, saying,
"Nyeh, nyeh, nyeh, nyeh!!! You can't hit me!"
Ranma knew it was his chance to catch her. He jumped and smiled when he
saw her surprised look as he came down on her, pinning her on the soft
snow.
"Gotcha! So you want snow huh?" Ranma was about to peg her with a huge
snowball but he stopped when she started to laugh, "What's so funny?"
Akane looked at him and said in between laughs, "You... your hair's a....a
mess and you're covered with snow!"
Ranma stared at her and said, "I'm not the one who's lying down on it!"
Their laughter echoed through the yard and slowly died down and was
replaced by small giggles. Everything was silent and they found themselves
staring into each other's eyes. A gentle smile appeared on Ranma's lips.
Silence came between them-a loving silence. The world was instantly gone.
The only thing in their minds was each other and the love they shared.
In the cold of the wind, they found warmth in each other's touch.

Ranma sighed and squeezed Akane's hand, smiling softly at her. It was
about nine already and the moon was shining down on them on the roof.
Akane grinned and said, "I had fun today..."
"I did too, I-" Ranma felt a drop on his hand and held his hand out and
felt the cold drops again. He smiled and stood, helping Akane up.
A smile of pure wonder touched Ranma's face, "It's...snowing."
Akane looked around and saw that it was really snowing. They looked around
in awe and gazed into each other's eyes as snowflakes fell around them.
Ranma stared at Akane, she was covered with snowflakes and the highlight
of the moon made her even more beautiful than he had ever imagined. Then
and there, Ranma knew that Akane was an angel to his eyes--his angel.
The wind picked up and played with her hair, gently caressing her smooth
locks. Her hand touched his cheek and he smiled.
Under the pure light of the moon, they kissed, holding each other amidst
the gentle descent of snowflakes.

End.
