I apologize. 

I had hoped to introduce an element of friendly competition to the mailing
list, but it seems I was mistaken on a number of delicate points in the
community's social code. My challenge has received only censure and
condescension. 

I cannot hope to recover from these errors. I can, at best, hope to retire
with grace and whatever dignity remains to me. Therefore, this list will
receive no future contributions from me.

I didn't intend to hurt anyone's delicate feelings. Rest assured that my
disrespectful invasion of your forum will go no further than this, my last
message.
