EVA: Talking in his sleep


     Shinji was actually asleep in class.
  Asuka's brow creased. That loser. It was his fault for not going to sleep
early. She contemplated raising her hand to tell the teacher Shinji was alseep. 
  "Asuka, I love you!!!" Shinji cried out in his sleep.
  Asuka's eyes widened. She had heard every word Shinji had said. There was no
mistake in what she had heard. Her ears weren't playing jokes on her.
  "I've loved you since the first day I saw you!!!" Shinji cried out, still
talking in his sleep.
  By now, the entire class had turned their attention toward Asuka, wondering
what she was going to say or how she was going to react.
  For some reason, Asuka turned toward Rei's seat, wondering how Rei would react
if she had attended class today. She was grateful Rei wasn't there. How was she
going to explain this if she had?
  When Shinji proclaimed his love of Asuka a third time, Asuka couldn't help but
blush this horrible shade of red. Did he mean it?
  At that moment, the bell rang and Shinji seemed to have snapped from his
slumber. He stretched his arms out and yawned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
  "God, I can't wait to go home" Shinji said, getting up out of his seat and
leaving the classroom. He didn't even bother to wait up for Asuka.
  Asuka remained silent, staring at the door Shinji had left through. Fot the
first time in her life, Asuka was speechless. Thoughts were racing through her
mind, thoughts on if Shiji meant what he had said.
  if he did, for some reason, Asuka knew that she would never look at Shinji the
same way again. 
  Outside, Shinji headed how, a smirk on his lips.
  "Hee hee, that was funny"
