In America, I understand that the first, say, three floors of a building
are called the first, second and third floors. In New Zealand, and other
countries with a more British culture, they're called the ground, first and
second floors. (The rationale being that the first floor is the first
floor UP from the ground -- in other words, a zero-based numbering system.)
But what is the style in Japan? Counting from 1 or G? Or some other system?
I realise that this is a pretty piddling question. But one may as well try
to get the details right.
Thanks,
Angus
