Actually, the algae isn't anything anyone has ever seen before... after
all Ranma has already run into a creature not indigenous to Earth.
There's something going on, and the next part shall start to explore
exactly what that is.  The limestone effecting the algae was just a
guess on the part of Lara, she's not positive that's what it is.  If
lime is mixed with water and sulfer (ie. from a volcanic vent), it
becomes toxic, and is used as a fungicide.   Anyway, the algae is
something that will be answered along with numerous other questions one
should have at this point, later.  Ranma has noticed Lara's weapons, he
just hasn't really thought about them yet.  He knows he's a great
fighter and has no need from weapons, but he figures Lara is not and
needs the help of guns, or she would get killed.  And yes, the issue
*is* going to come up, and I will probably throw in a line about it when
I redraft the story, so thanks for bringing it up at least.  Lara, stuck
up?  I don't know about that... she is just being professional... I
thought I opened her up a little *too* much as is in the last part...
but, maybe not.  Sorry if this didn't seem to be well thought up, the
