Megumi knew what was wrong. Walking away from her car after the race,
she knew what exactly those disturbances they'd been feelings were. And
her face developed a scowl.

It was a little too obvious who it was. In fact, she didn't even bother
to mask who it was. Megumi's frown grew even more at her callousness.
She still thought she and her brother were still just humans. Wouldn't
she be surprised.

They've been able to keep their god-hood secret from her kind for all
this time, but it looked like the only way to make sure it stayed secret
until they could truthfully secure their positions, was to remove her
completely. And there was only one way.

Megumi reached the door to her trailer and could sense the intruder
within. She sighed and wondered if this was actually worth it. Unless
she was gone for good, there would never be peace for Megumi and her
brother.

She opened the door to see the reason for her agitation and scowled
more. There, sitting on one of the few chairs inside, was Mara.

Mara looked up to see her prey, smiled darkly, and whispered, "Evening
Megu-chan."

Time: February 23, 2100
Place: Remnants of San Francisco

Ringo could never understand why he kept on returning there. It was
only on his off-hours that he ever had a chance to go back and see her
again. Day after day, to and on his way back to the base, he always
checked to see if she was there again.

As always, he found her again. Only after going through another game of
sorts to try and find her. With every win he achieved, he found that she
would answer a question he had about her. Today was the first time he
won.

"Who are you?" He asked, sitting on the porch of the front of his home.

"My name's Megumi." She said simply, leaning against the tree.

"That I know."

"Really? If so, ask another question."

"Ok then. What are you? You look so human, but after all that I've
seen, I'm not even sure."

She hopped off the tree and plopped onto the ground next to him and
stared at him with a serious face. "What I'm about to say will be VERY
odd. Even among what you've seen, I doubt you've seen much like me," she
paused for a minute and then looked out to the distance, "I'm Megumi
Morisato. Ex-First Class Goddess of Power. Now exiled deity. On account
of the fact I have been part demon ever since '16."

Ringo looked at her with confusion etched on his face. The reason for
his silence was all the
questions that went through his mind. She was a goddess? Wait, didn't
she said that she was exiled? What did that mean?

She moved in front of him, sat on her knees, reached forward, took his
hand, and with an adoring smile, said, "The past aside Ringo, I am glad
to see you again."

He was a bit confused at her grasping his hand, but smiled in response
and replied, "So am I.

*************************************************

At that same time, Lance had chosen that time to fly about this
abandoned city and use it as a
base of operations. The last several months had been good to him. Every
time he had shown up, the humans had either panicked or tried to fight
back. Rather pitifully though.

Several near dormant teknopods had given him their power as a last
request to their master. With his upgraded power, he now felt strong
enough to take out the Teknos of the Space Knights. Only, the best thing
to do was take them out one by one. The only one that could be trouble
would be that alien, but no matter, he would prevail.

Looking to his left, he noticed movement at one of the abandoned homes.
Squinting his eyes, he could sense the power that emanated from one. The
other was a mystery though. She did have a power, but it wasn't teknos
based. Well, after he dispatched the human, the other would come next.

*************************************************

They both sat against the tree they talked in all those years ago as
their conversation about the past continued. Not at all aware that they
would soon have a guest.

"Now, the thing I want to know is. Why did you choose me? I mean, there
was plenty of them out there and I was just a kid." Ringo said with a
wild arm gesture, indicating the rest of the world.

"I'd tell you. But you wouldn't believe me." She said with a hint of
sarcasm.

"Oh yeah? I've seen spider crabs decimate Earth, men turning into
cyborgs, a cybrog posing as a human that has Teknos power, and now a
woman that can turn into a bolt of lightning. Why don't you try me?"

She seemed hesitant at first, but then sighed and stood up to tell him.
"Ok. You're still not going to believe me. It just seems to weird, well
not really. Anyway, the reason is" her response was interrupted as a
nine-foot long, white lance pierced the ground right beside the tree.
Narrowly missing them both.

Ringo saw a red string fly out of nowhere, wrap itself around the hilt
of the weapon, and carry it back to it's owner. With a loud clang, a
large basketball sized hand grabbed the lance.

Standing at nine feet, Lance towered over both humans and sneered. The
slits on the sides of his eagle shaped helmet glowed with red as he
glared at them. A few plates opened on his right hand and several ruby
colored energy discs flew at the area around them. With a near ear
deafening *thud*, he landed within a few feet of the smoke screen his
weapon had created.

A blue light emerged from the smoke and swung its bladed staff at
Lance. Ringo barely had enough time to use the smoke to cover his
transformation to attack, yet the attack was blocked easily. He tried to
keep his shock and surprise in check as he saw the newer and more
powerful form of Lance.

<Tina, Salian, ANYONE! Help! I found Lance, but I can't take him alone!
He sent to the other Teknos of the Space Knights. He tried to send it
again and find where at least one of his companions were, but Lance's
other massive fist threw him into the ground.

"You make me sick, insect!" Lance growled as he lifted his weapon point
down and thrust, only to miss his target. Ringo powered up his thrusters
and flew up the roof of his home. He couldn't see Megumi anywhere, but
it seemed to be for the better. What he needed to do now was hold off
Lance until any others could find him, and that was what he was going to
do.

A pair of plates opened on his chest plate, to reveal a set of six
glowing crystals. Aiming at his target, Ringo cried, "TEKNO BOLT!" and a
wave of blue colored energy flew at Lance. To his surprise, Lance stood
his ground and a second pair of plates opened on his chest, along with
the plate underneath the face protector, and began to glow red.

"Reflectors! Power On!" and a net of red came from the crystals on his
plates and caught the bolt. Another set of plates opened and glowed with
even more power than before as a massive wave of energy went back at
Ringo. "Anti-Matter Disrupters! FIRE!" With that, a wave of death flew
at Lance's enemy.

The smaller one of the two teknomen jumped out of the way in time, yet
his house took enough of the shot that took off most of the roof. Ringo
hated to see this happen to what few memories he had left, but he had no
choice as a bird shaped aura of blue light engulfed.

"CRYSTAL HAWK!" he yelled and flew at his foe. He pulled up and let the
bird shaped blast attack Lance. Instead of trying to avoid it, Lance
charged and met the hawk head on.

The resulting blast threw Ringo back and into a cliff, overlooking the
sea. He shook his head a few times to clear it, as Lance advanced again.
Changing plans, Ringo flew downward, knowing that Lance was behind him,
and gaining speed as well.

*************************************************

Back at the remains of Ringo's house, a lightning bolt formed from one
of the open power wires and became Megumi. She turned to the west, where
the other two had gone, and started to worry. She heard about these
Teknomen through word of mouth. First of all, she knew about Slade and
the Space Knights, but she didn't know there was more than what the
enemy had at first.

Now, here was one very powerful foe, and Ringo stood hardly a chance
against him. She took a deep breath and searched the areas where more
powers that were similar to Ringo's were. The closest one wasn't going
to be able to save Ringo in time, she had no choice. Jumping into the
air, she let the darker side of her power carry her to where Ringo and
Lance where.

*************************************************

Ringo screamed in pain as he was tossed again into the rock face of
another cliff. Not only was Lance stronger, but faster too. That didn't
help Ringo in the least as he fell into the sea. He looked up to see his
attacker fall into the ocean after him and tried dive deeper. Yet, his
hopes were in vain as Lance grabbed his ankle and powered his boosters
upward to the surface.

Emerging from the waters, Lance winded up and threw his smaller foe
into the cliff overlooking the beach. Ringo barely got his eyes open
again as he saw Lance float in front of him, and all he could hear was a
low cackle from the giant.

"That was just me having fun, little man. Now, I'm gonna use you as an
example to the rest of your friends when you try and impersonate us with
your poor excuse for a power." He said as he pulled out his lance once
more, and this time aimed it at Ringo's heart.

Just when the fatal blow was about to be delivered, an electrical bolt
came out of nowhere and enveloped Lance. Yet, instead of overloading his
body, like the bolt's user thought, he stood there impassively and
looked at its source.

Megumi was powerful enough to send enough power into any kind of life
form to kill it, but this one seemed much more immune that others. She
started to back up as Lance flew up and onto the cliff she was on. He
wasted no words as he swung his weapon at his other attacker.

Megumi hopped back farther and farther as every one of his attacks
missed her by millimeters. By judging his size and speed of his attacks,
she was able to predict when he would swing next. She knew she couldn't
beat Lance by herself, yet she knew how. But she needed Ringo's help and
he was barely conscious at the moment.

So, stepping between his attacks, she brought her palm forward and
flashed a light into his face. Causing him to cease his attack to hold
his face. She ran around him and jumped off the small cliff to land
beside Ringo.

She knelt in front of him and moved his face this way and that, in
attempt to revive him. Seconds later, the near beaten Teknos Halberd
awoke.

	"Megumi. What's happened? Where's Lance?"

"Don't worry about him for the moment. What we need to worry about is
getting us to a safe place for a bit."

	"Why?"

"I got an idea. But I need your help to do so."

*************************************************

Back on the cliff, sight finally returned to Lance to see that his
second target was gone. He figures that since the girl was with the
Space Knight, she most likely went to help him. Growling, he went to the
cliff, saw them both and jumped. Tucking his weapon back, he swung with
all his might at the two on the ground. Only to discover they were just
illusions, using sand.

He was ready to scream when he noticed a few sets of footprints,
leading back to the city. Well, they might have avoided him the first
time, but not again.

*************************************************

Megumi rested the panting Teknos Halberd against the wall of an
abandoned shop and stopped to regain her own breath as well. Between
huffs, Ringo asked the woman,

"Now, what exactly is it you wanted my cooperation for?"

"It's a summon spell I've been able to perfect. It enables the caster's
target to go into a rage, similar to a berserker's. Increasing strength
and speed tenfold."

	"And the bad news?"

"It might push your body beyond the limits of what you're used to and
kill you in the end."

A silence followed them as he deliberated. Yet, his answer never came
as the building they were in began to buckle underneath the weight of
it's third visitor. They both ran for the exit as Lance crashed through
the ceiling and found his prey.

"You won't get away this time!" he yelled as the plates on his chest
glowed and fired instantly. Megumi threw up a shield as fast as she
could, but with what little time she was given, it buckled and died.
Fortunately, the shield was enough to dilute the shot enough so that it
wouldn't kill them, throwing them both into the building on the opposite
side of the street.

Megumi had been thrown farther than Ringo, on account that she had not
the armor to weigh her down. Pushing herself to her feet, she saw
Ringo's hand through the rubble and then the incoming Lance.

They had no more options. All escapes were gone. The only way out was
to fight. Taking a deep breath, she brought her hands together and begin
to chant in an inhuman tongue. The wind began to pick up and swirl about
her, while Lance paid her no heed as he closed in on his first target,
Ringo.

~ Hiryui. Spirit of the Berserker. As one the blood of both demon and
god, I summon you from your resting place. ~

Lance reached through the rubble and took a hold on Ringo's head.
Lifting him up, Lance stabbed his weapon in the ground and brought his
fist back to strike Ringo in the gut.

~ As offering, I give this man. Whose life only you can save. With his
body and your power, all who dare to stand in your way will meet their
end. ~

With the end of the chant, she pointed her palms at Ringos's back and a
single light emerged and flew straight into Ringo's body. Megumi looked
on with total fear, hoping beyond hope that it wouldn't come to the
worst.

Lance noticed that the mass on the smaller warrior was beginning to
increase slightly. By then it was too late. Ringo suddenly brought both
feet and kicked the face of his attacker, freeing him. There was only
darkness inside the helmet of Teknos Halberd as he screamed and pulled
out his weapon. Lance stood bewildered as Ringo charged and swung his
weapon downward at the larger teknoman.

Lance jumped back at the blade only missed him by centimeters, and
created a rather large crater in the process. Yet, the first miss
wouldn't deter the possessed teknos warrior. Swing after swing was
thrown by Ringo and Lance suddenly found his advantage gone.

The larger of the two teknomen jumped as Ringo swung once more, and
took out the entire building instead of Lance. Getting irritated, Lance
swung his weapon to meet with Ringo's halberd, only to find the point
chopped off. Seeing hardly any other alternatives, Lance forward kicked
Ringo away and all his plates opened for the final attack that would
kill Ringo.

Breathing heavily, the possessed Ringo steadied himself, saw Lance
again, and charged. Only one simple thought reigned through his mind as
he rammed through the remains of buildings to his target. Kill. He
brought up weapon up, screamed like man possessed, and swung.

Lance had gathered enough power to take out more than a whole city
block the instant Ringo was in range. And he released every iota of it,
point-blank, at Ringo. The red wave of zetronic antimatter came forth
with more force than a tsunami, and it would have killed anything stupid
enough to get in its way. Only, there was no one there.

Lance heard something behind him, but before he could do anything about
it, a metal clad foot, belonging to Ringo, sent him forward. He rolled
up to his feet and could only watch as a blue colored wave of energy
flooded over him. Once more, the larger teknoman flew forward, yet this
time, he was missing several larger plates of armor, his left forearm
and hand, and the back of his helmet.

Even then, Ringo wasn't done. When Lance fell backward, the possessed
Ringo jumped on top of Lance and continued to beat his helmet, searching
for the man inside.

Seeing no other alternative, Lance caught both of Ringo's hands threw
them away and then locked Ringo in an embrace as he initiated his
self-destruct sequence.

"If I die, you're going with me human!!" Lance screamed as the core
inside him went into overload and a geyser of red colored light took him
and Ringo.

*************************************************

Megumi tried to follow them, but the geyser that suddenly appeared
threw her back. Her eyes widened with horror at the possibility.

"RINGO!" she screamed as she ran to the heart of the explosion. Amid
the smoke, rubble, and fires, she could only see one figure standing.
She leaned against one of the few remaining walls of the buildings and
sighed with relief. With the result known, she began to walk to the
heart of the newly formed crater.

Between the clouds, the sun made the gold, white, and blue armor of
Teknos Halberd more majestic and pure. Soon enough, the darkness in his
helmet was replaced with a blue glow, then he collapsed. Only to be
caught in the arms of Megumi.

Wearily, he asked, "Did we beat him?" She nodded, and he continued,
"Hooray for our side." With Megiumi's help, they walked out of the still
steaming war zone and to safety.

End of Chapter 2
[Warhammer comes out again.]
WH: Cool huh? I enjoy a good fight sequence as much as the next guy,
but even one such as I can go overboard.

Now, I will say that the whole story that happens in 2016 will be
explained with the following chapters. As with Ringo being chosen by
Megumi, and so on.

Lance and the other evil Teknomen never really did play that big a part
of the original series and they'll do the same in these fics. They're
just minor compared to the main plot, in this case, is Ringo and Megumi.
How sweet. Now, if you'll excuse me.

Next chapter, Ringo's not the only one who finds Megumi and decides to
take action. Find out who it is in the next chapter of the Machine's
Blessing.

[Warhammer returns to the light to write more.]
