Hi! Got a question for you all...

Being the typical middle-American type of guy, I don't know nearly as
much about Japan as I would like to when I work on my fanfics. My
question for you all is - what do you use for information?

I cheat. ^_^ I lived there and just use what I can remember. This
gets less and less reliable as time goes on and I forget things,
though...  ;_;

Is there any particular source(s) that you prefer? I can name a few
cities, a couple of Japanese dishes (sushi, okonomiyaki(sp?), and
ramen are about it), and that's just about all I know.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm. A good travel guide for Japan (I'm thinking mainly of Lonely
Planet's guide) can also have some cultural information. Examples in
LP's guide is what food you can get, some language notes, and festival
dates; and every LP guide also has a 'facts about the country' section
(including language, but note that it's FORMAL language.) The obvious
thing about a travel guide is that it has maps and it has locations, so
any geography you use will be right.

If your local library has a computerised index, you could also search
for books about Japan that way.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.
