Subject: [FFML] [Fanfic] [Ranma] Clerks
Sarah: Whats Clerks?
Eric: Whats CLERKS?!
Dim: Its a depressing movie?
Eric: Its only the greatest movie ever made for under $25,000
Sarah: you're foaming at the mouth.
Author's Note:
Wow! That was a lot longer than I actually thought it would get. If
you
haven't seen "Clerks", then obviously:
A.) None of this has made any sense
Eric: Saw it/ made sense.
B.) You are delinquent in your social responsibilities. Go out and
rent
it
now!
Eric: That would mean you Sarah.
Sarah: *flares a bright green* Excuse me?
Thanks of course go out to John Harp, who is not in fact an American
Design
Major, but a Creative Writing/Music major, and my editor, odd that a
physicist
would be doing the writing though. Thanks also go out to Kelly Nine
Eric: what you mean he isnt an American Design Major?! LIAR!
Sarah: I feel so mislead.
Dim: its depressing in todays society.
without whom I would never have seen the Kevin Smith trilogy.
Eric: You mean you didnt discover it own your own?
On to comments! I pretty much had to fit what characters and
situations I
could the best I could and preserve as much of the actual "Clerks"
magic.
Eric: The failure at times was pretty striking in the Ukyou/Veronica
bit.
Sarah: Fortunately Ukyou never "snowballed" anyone
Eric: errr ahem... and that comment about "31" was thankfully left out.
That didn't mean I couldn't use my favorite characters however. Mousse
gets
a raw deal normally since he gets straightjacked into the role of
Shampoo's
devoted and abused love slave. I picked him out for Randall's
Sarah: You're giving Mousse way too much credit here. Abused? I would
say he dishes out the abuse far more then he recieves... how often does
Shampoo have to say no?
character
so I could actually let him go. Of course he's pretty screwed up here
too,
but now he's screwed up on his own. It's pretty much my opinion
Eric: true much like Randall's character.
that
if he did lose his crutch of working at Nekohanten, he'd either fall to
pieces or, he'd pull his mind together, or both.
Ukyo is another one of my favorites, though for different reasons. She
is probably to most deserving of Ranma's fiancees, although whether
she's
deserving of Ranma or not (I don't know that I'd wish him on anyone) is
debatable.
Eric: tsk... deserving? No one deserves anyone and Ukyou is free to
make her own choices and Ranma is not necessarily a prize to be won as
he is also free to make up his own mind. The point of clerks, to me,
was about accepting responsibilities for your own actions. Veronica,
through her interaction with Dante, was a fairly developed character.
Ukyou on the other hand passed through the whole fic and only brought
Ranma an okonomiyaki. The problem is that Ukyou is nothing like
Veronica.
As for OOC acting, I had to keep to the Clerks storyline, so of course
Sarah: oh understandable.
some stuff got sacrificed both ways, both on the part of Clerks and
on Ranma 1/2. All comments, whatever, are welcomed! Even if you just
want to say this really sucked! I don't mind! Well, I might, but if
you've taken the actual time to read this, I might as well return the
favor and see what you think. Please send comments to
awa51669@jetson.uh.edu
Sarah: well i have to say i enjoyed the story, but never having watched
clerks myself i was kinda lost.
Eric: there are a few issues, have you considered Nabiki and Kasumi as
Jay and Silent Bob? I think they would suit the role far better then
Soun and Genma, especially with Genma sudden reversal in thought towards
the end with him (sorta) endorsing Ukyou. Akane as Caitlin was well cast
though the funeral part of the movie could've been substituted.
Andrew Askew
Sarah: humm Askew...View Askew?
Eric: C'mon Sarah you need to see this movie... and Mallrats and the
tres good Chasing Amy. Best movie of the year.
