Some guy with no sig wrote....

One story says that Akane's actions are a serious problem and the other
says
they aren't. And they're the same actions in both stories.

Uhhh.... no. In one story, Ranma and Akane get married, and she *stops*
hitting him. At least, she tones it way, way down to the level of the
horseplay between Ranma and Genma. In the other, Ranma and Akane get married,
and she starts hitting him more and more, and harder and harder, until she
finally cancels out the "healing factor" of Ranma's {for lack of a better
term} and starts doing some real damage.

The consequences of hitting in each story do not, IMHO, need to be reconciled
with either each other or the series. Ranma got hurt all the time in the
series. Ryoga could hurt him, Mikado did some *serious* damage, Saffron nearly
killed him, Happosai made him weak, etc etc etc. AKANE whacked him so hard he
did a personality flip-flop, and you will note, in that episode, that even
serious mental trauma wasn't sufficient inducement for her to stop pounding
him. I fully believe that that was what inspired Zen to do TBE {Although for
all I know, I could be light-years off .}, It was just that there was time in
between each episode for him to recover; we tend to forget that the
manga/anime cover only the highlights, and he is not constantly in battle. In
TBE, he is receiving constant, steadily increasing, daily doses of punishment.
You'll note that it took QUITE awhile for even that to wear him down, and it
wasn't even the beatings which killed him; it was a katana, and we all have to
agree that it doesn't matter what universe he gets hit by that in, he's
screwed.

Just my rant for this ongoing debate. Hey Lawson, Zen, care to settle the
issue?
