Hi.
I'm Switch, Keeper of the Nikholas F. Toledo Zu, and I'm going to take a
brief respite from the FFML. Oh, we'll be subscribed (and I'll checking the
mail, but not reading it... more of what I'm doing now), and I can answer to
any Zu-directed mail (for me and my ilk) but I won't be posting anything of
my own until... say January 1. Just like going to Mount Everest with a
cellphone.
I'd say this has been more of a case of depression than anything else.
Some of the writers I've liked reading have either upped and left or
gotten totally smashed (like some of the other Zu writers) into a funk.
Matt Posner left after having almost no response on "Who is Tormenting
the Great Chefs of France?" (sorry about the title... I lost my text files).
Terrence Marks has completely stopped production of "Love is What", and
Keener is going on and off because of some fics getting no C&C. I don't
even recall anyone noticing TimeRunner's Gratuitous Self Chapter 10. I've
never seen so many fanfics, so much that I can barely notice when I'm posting.
Lord knows I've had ups and downs... three of my fics in a row got me zip,
and I resorted to fast-fooding ideas in a string of spamfics. Because of
some of them, my unfinished fanfic folder has reached an all-time high of
25. I'm finally experiencing burnout. (Not to mention RL being such a
bitch.)
That doesn't mean that I won't be posting anything from the Zu. On the
contrary, I'll be posting Mayhem's Memories Chapter 7 after I edit it.
(Maybe even repost Rain Man's The Three-Fold God's Path Episode 15, and
Elf's Reunions and Tragedies [formerly untitled] Chapters 1 and 2, since
they got caught in the latest ML fritzes.)
So I'll thank The Eternal Lost Lurker, who MSTed Elf's and NomaD's fics,
everyone who chimed in on my spamfics (the whole lot of you!), to the
Scriviner and TimeRunner, who are always ready to give ideas/advice, and
to those people who remember to put in a good word: they remind us to read
and not just look, and to write what we feel.
