Subject: Re: [FFML] [minirant] Absolutely no taste...
This is the last I'm going to say about this on the ffml.
While it's stunning and nice to see the sudden outpouring
of affection for Ill Met By Starlight (and you people have
now inflated Mike's ego to that of Cthulhulian proportions)
the irritating fact of the matter is...
You've all missed the point.
See that thing up there? Waay up there? That speck
that's flying over your heads?
That's the point. Flew right by ya.
No, I refuse to elaborate any further. Just read the
original post again and this time delete the name of
the author. If you still don't get it, rejoice, I guess.
Ignorance is bliss, yeah?
-rod, who's gonna just puke if we have another lame-ass
chainmail stunt on the list.
p.s. Ya know I'm kidding about the ego bit, right mike? ^.-
Sarah: OH MY GOD! whats that down there...
Eric: I think its a point.
Sarah: really?
Eric: Oh yeah... lets take a closer look.... float us down there
Sarah: *envelops herself in green energy and floats into the sky*
Eric: *peers closely at the point* I dont think i wear any of that
stuff and i certainly dont wear a barney tie.
Sarah: well, i dunno theres that pair of boxers....
Eric: SHUT UP! Actually if the FFML was a person it would probably
dress like everyone else you know, in blue jeans, t-shirt, thinks
Seinfeld is the funniest show on earth. Rule of the masses and all
that. Indviduality duly stamped out and everything. Blah blah blah.
Sarah: ahh i see.. He's suggesting that some works are more deserving of
responses then others.
Eric: well you can look at that two ways: *flips on his glasses and
harkens back to his days of Comm413* You can certainly suggest that the
masses have no taste and that certain things that are well done are
often ignored and the creator often times prosecuted, while the inane
and generic are enshrined.
Sarah: How does that go? Enshrine the idiots and destroy the shrines.
Eric: Yep, on the other hand you can look past such gross
generalizations and realize that personal taste tends to prevail here.
After posting one of my stories to RAAC i got one response, I have
recieved only one repsonse to my original story posted on my webpage and
none from here. Then again perhaps these two stories might fall into
your catergory of silly stories, not well thought out...
Sarah: in which case we take offense to that.
Eric: People are going to be people, sometimes the quick story is easier
to read and enjoy then to take the time to read a 30+ page monstrosity
that explores the downfall of a certain long haired beauty after some
jerk, who will remain unmentioned, marries an evil harpy.
Sarah: Whose to judge whether a story is worthy of reponse publicly or
privately is up to each indvidual. If we allow one persons opinion to
dictate how we should respond to each story, then we just might become
that monster you described with the barney tie.
Eric: personally i prefer this really neat tie i bought a jr riggins.
Sarah: Most stories have their merits though these merits may not be
immediately recognizable. Whats popular is not necessarily an
indication of whats stupid.
Eric: *shrug* Allow people the freedom to make up their own minds on
whats good and dont gainsay them this right. Your tasteless story might
be another persons opus, though granted it may just be a pile a crap
that took ten minutes to write. But allow others the freedom to decie
this on their own without inciting an attack on their intelligence.
Sarah: Personally i'm curious if mr. loader has recieved private email
on his story. Sometimes what people say doesnt have to be aired
publically. Au Revoir!
