When Ranma is female, she's quite short. Look at her stand next to
most anyone, and she's much shorter than they are. There's one picture
of her being held by Mikado that makes her look quite childlike. Er, a
very *healthy* child.

Anyone else observed this? Any other theories?

I found a tumbnail from the OAV's that was used to help the animators
and character designers get the relative size in their heads and from
shortest to tallest were:
happosai
cologne
sasuke (not manga, i know)
ranma-chan
shampoo
akane
ukyou
nabiki
ryouga & kasumi
ranma-kun
genma
mousse
soun
kunou
i know alot of people are missing here- but i'll get to that.
I'll use english measurements.
Kuno as the tallest next to Soun stands to be among one of the taller
Japanese guy's you'll find- and comparing him to wild life and certain
building structures- i'll put him at about 5'10"~11".
Ranma-chan being the (Realistically) smallest person is a
Head-and-a-Half smaller than either Kunou or Soun.
Now I'm 6'1" and my cousin is about a head and a half shorter than
myself (not GT, Stacee). She stands barely at 5'3".
Using a head as about 3/4~7/8 a foot (9~10.6)inches- that would make
Ranma-Chan almost an entire foot shorter than kunou; just barely
reaching 5 feet.
If you fill the others in with some guess work, then the rest of the
cast doesn't deviate too much from each other in height as Ranma-chan
and Kunou do.
