And yet (and this really bothers me for some reason) whenever Ranma (as
a woman) is drawn standing next to Akane, Ranma is *taller*.

I don't get it. Must be some kind of weird time/space distortion Star
Trek field thingy. Ranma must grow about four inches whenever she
approaches Akane. When they separate, Ranma shrinks.

Or it could be RT, either consciously or subconsciously, is making the
point that Ranma is still the "man" of the relationship, so must always
be taller. I grant this is perhaps reading too much into it.

Anyone else observed this? Any other theories?

Funny, I always thought that Ranma-chan was _always_ just a tad shorter
than Akane, when a direct comparison of their hieghts can be made. This
only occurs when the two are side-by-side and standing erect. If one is
closer than the other, perspecive screws up hieght comparison, as relative
size is a distance cue. I know for a fact that your body position affects
height measure; my parents have a stupid human trick which I dubbed "The
Incredible Shrinking Dad." When they're both standing, my dad is quite
clearly taller than my mom. When they sit, my dad is clearly _shorter_ than
my mom!

Nahh... Ranma-chan is clearly quite the shrimp.
