Crystal Tokyos? You never once see a guy-guy pairing there. I'm
starting think there must be a gender imbalance.
In a few of the Crystal Tokyos that I've seen, there IS a gender
imbalance, or at least, the only people you ever hear about are
primarily female. But if you think about it, Crystal Tokyo is built
off the backs of very strong female warriors, which came from a past
kingdom of magical female fighters, and will proceed into a future of
royal female members. Males are seriously downplayed in Sailor Moon.
1) Few men
are willing to have a relationship in which they are the weaker sex
^_^
I don't know about "few men", most people are willing to have a
relationship with anyone as long as they fulfil their view of love.
2) Few men are willing to have a relationship in which their
partners
can destroy them with a thought
Again, see above. However, in the current society, men are at the
command of devices that could destroy the planet with a thought.
3) Few men are willing to have a relationship with someone who will
outlive them by several million years
Totally untrue. Not to mention the fact that everyone in Crystal
Tokyo seems to have extended lives, not just the female population.
4) Few women are willing to have a relationship with someone who
they
will outlive by several million years
See above.
5) These women have been together for a millenium, it's only natural
that they'd be more intimate with each other than anyone else
Distinct possibility concerning the Senshi but no one else. We're
talking about the ENTIRE POPULATION of Crystal Tokyo, not just he
Senshi.
Probably the most plausible answer would be that men are just not seen
too much in fiction about this society. Crystal Tokyo is about women
leaders and women fighters, sometimes men just get lost in the mix.
Another thing that leads to this is the lack of a taboo on lesbian
relationships. Two of the most powerful women on the planet are
lesbian, to say that everyone else can't be lesbian would be
hypocritical. Therefore, assuming women work as close together as men
had in the real world in prior centuries before the advent of women's
rights, lesbian relationships are definitely more possible than gay
relationships today.
