An alternate title is "No Need for Springs!" but I think that
this is a little too... um, serious for that. You get the
idea. Oh, yes. I got it from a story off the Verotik line,
but I think there's not much of the original mood retained.

The rain came down in rivulets, and the windows sheened false pink.
She stared at the sky, at the window, at the lights, at the rain. The
cold dribbled from her face, leaving a foreboding structure, blown back
in fiery red streaks, angry and sudden. She neither pouted nor smiled;
she had the air of perpetual sigh. The night lights of the tired city
caught her profile, highlight in angles, but full in the softer curves.
The lapels of her overcoat fluttered just so: she hid a feral grin.
"Are you a tourist, too?" The tall blond man stood just outside her
personal space. A hand brushed against her knuckles, where she gripped
the table, while another removed a pair of turtle-shell glasses.
English. The bastard was American. She floundered slightly with the
foreign tongue, and tried not to sound too nervous. "Yes. I'm new
around here." She turned her blue eyes to lock with his hazel eyes.
"Can you... show me the town?"
A hard kernel formed in the back of his eyes. Damn, damn, was she too
smooth? She stopped berating herself as he slid into the chair across
hers.
She placed her hands flat on the center of the table. A waiter came
with her tea, and she asked for an extra cup. She opened the service
kettle and stirred the oolong. Pouring herself a cup, she waited for
the waiter to come with the other cup.
"No, no, thank you." He took the teakettle with both hands. Her eyes
fell on three inset diamonds on the golden band he wore. He poured
himself a serving and placed the pot in between them. He noticed her
scrutiny.
He slipped the hand into the other, covering the ring. "It's nothing.
It-it... oh, crap." He shifted his weight, motioning to leave.
She held his hands fast on the table. With deft fingers, she
extracted the right hand. "Diamonds. I like diamonds."

Heavy with sweat, bodies meshed and pulled apart. Under sheets of silk
and sheen, the rain kept the cold outside: the fires raged, on and on.

He left his midnight lover in the futon, as he went to get something
for his head. He wanted to take a bath, a shower... sex this good
shouldn't be with a stranger. He wanted to wash himself of the slick
and salty juices.
Opening the inner door of the bath, he stared at the mirror.
A busty redhead stared back.
"WHAT!"
The outer door slid open. In a voice that was once his, someone said,
"you're awake."
He explored his new nakedness: the firmness of his breasts, the width
of his hips, the softness of his waist...
The inner door slid open. He, who he was, ambled in. "I'm really
sorry about this."
"You..." Everything started to overwhelm him. "You can't get away with
this."
"Yes, I can." The body snatcher washed his face with a basin. "You see,
I have your memories. Your wife's name is Jane. She's six months
pregnant with a girl you're planning to name Sarah. You keep a dog you
call Odie, a red Porche and a house in Malibu."
"Stop it, stop it, stop it."
He sounded sympathetic. "It's okay. Get used to it." A pause. "I was
a man, too."
He wrapped himself, covering his bulging chest. "This... this can't..."

There. A curse is a curse. Almost a facsimile, but cut short. Any takers?
