The Three Evas
(I take full responsibility for this fic... <sigh>)
NOTE TO HUANG:  This could actually fit into the Evanjellydonut
continuum... a side story if you will...

     "The Magi?"  Asuka asked, her eyes wide.
     Ritsuko nodded, pointing toward the towering Unit 02.  "Only for
one trial run.  The preliminaries worked out perfectly."
     Shinji spoke up, "How come we don't have to be there?"
     "Well, it runs on a similar principle as the Dummy Plug."  She
noticed Shinji's wince and smiled softly, "Don't worry, this time it'll
be controlled by the Magi."
     Rei jumped into the conversation, "When are you going to start?"
     "Right now."

Inside the Magi....

     "Hey!  Look what I found!"  Caspar exclaimed.
     Balthasar sighed, as well as a super computer could.  "What now?"
He answered, bored.
     "I was talking with Angela, at NERV 3, and she hooked me up to a
new visual database!"
     Melchior raised his metaphorical eyebrows.  "Oh yeah?"  Then, he
took on a distrustful look.  Unlike humans, this involved the use of
several thousand fractal logarithms.  "It's not another sci-fi marathon,
is it?"
     In two microseconds, Caspar had double checked.  "No.  This is
something completely different."
     Melchior "turned" to Balthasar.  "Well, what do you think?"
     He shrugged in response.  Outside the computer, Makoto was suddenly
knocked unconscious for no apparent reason.
     "Well, okay... let's all have a look."  Melchior concluded.  
     The three computers leapt into cyberspace for a "date" with their
three NERV 3 counterparts.

Back in the World....

     "Everything preparred?"  Ritsuko cried out to everyone.
     "Yeah,"  Maya replied, "except Makoto just passed out."

In the Magi....

     The three compuer's essenses returned, laughing.
     "Good one, Caspar."  Melchior conceded.
     Caspar bowed, but fortunately only halfway, or there would have
been trouble.
     Balthasar looked outward.  "The experiment is about to begin.  It's
going to be interesting exploring the real world."
     Caspar slapped him in the figurative head.  All the computers
laughed uproarously.

In the World Proper....

     "Why did Makoto pass out?"  Ritsuko returned.
     Maya just shrugged.
     "Well, continue the test.  All computers linked?"
     "Yes.  Going to Phase Two... activation."
     "The sync ratios are not near as good as live pilots, but passable.
Everything's running smoothly."
     Misato stood up from her chair and looked out the window at the
seemingly passive cyborgs.  "Prepare for launch!" 
     Everyone tensed for a moment while Misato collected herself.
     "Launch!"  The purple haired major cried.
     Maya struck all three buttons, sending the Eva rocketing toward the
surface.  "All's in the green.  Telemetry data stream is active and
okay."
     "Evas have reached surface."  Called Ritsuko.
     "Report!"  Misato called.
     Maya answered, "A-okay.  No abnormalities.  Instructing Magi to
take control and walk the preprogrammed course."
     "Activate main screen!"
     The humongous screen at the head of the room came to life.  On it,
the three Evas were standing side by side.
     Unit 00 brought its foot up and set it down, missing the buildings
surrounding it completely.
     Everyone underground sighed in relief.  
     "First step successful."  Maya announced.  Then, her eyes widened,
"Uh oh..."
     Ritsuko looked at her own data.  "What the hell?"
     Everyone in the room looked to the screen again.
     Unit 01 tried to walk, but tripped on a skyscraper.  The other two
behemoths seemed to laugh at its misfortune.  Which they were, silently.
     Unit 01 rose indignantly from the ground, turned around, and
punched Unit 02 in the head.
     Underground, hell was breaking loose.  
     "What in the hell has Magi gotten into this time?"  Screamed
Misato, looking at Ritsuko accusingly.
     "I don't know!"  Answered the distraught scientist, while typing on
six different terminals as fast as possible.
     "Katsuragi, is there a problem?"  Came the soft, but commanding
voice of Gendou from his perch high above everyone else.
     "Uh, not really sir.  Nothing we can't handle."  She replied, not
really paying attention.
     The three children just stood there, dumbfounded.  Then, Asuka
suddenly yelled, "Look!  It's mouth!"  She pointed at the screen.
     Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at what startled
the child.  
     Unit 01's mouth was opened, as if to go into brezerker mode.
However, what happened was anything *but* expected.
     Unit 01 said, "Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.", then poked Unit 00 in the eyes.
     From then on, only the children piloted the Evas.
