Ever notice how most new fic ideas come up when you have writer's
block....?
Notes: The following results from an odd combination of contributing
factors: writer's block, Dark Day for Anime's "Usagi is Dead" fic, an
image scanned from the cover of a Sailormoon CD, and the song Seventh
Moon, which I was listening to at the time this idea struck me.
Timeframe: Before Sailormoon SuperS. I'd say, a few months after the
end of S.

It's funny, how inspiration works.
At the moment of her death, Metallia was inspired by the actions of
her enemy of long ago, Queen Serenity.
As Princess Serenity poured the power of herself, her friends, and
the Ginzuishou into Metallia's body, the queen of evil focused all
her remaining power to cast a silent curse upon the heir to the
throne of the Moon Kingdom.
"Princess Serenity," Metallia hissed deep within her struggling
consciousness, "by my last ounce of strength, by my dying wish, I
place upon you this last strike from the darkness: on the next
eclipse of the moon, your precious Ginzuishou will once again
fragment into seven separate crystals, and its power will leave you.
Your fate is sealed, Serenity of the Moon."
With that, both sides of the battle gasped their dying breaths.
One returned to life, her memories gone.
The other lost the battle...but was confident in her revenge.
...two years later...
"Did you hear, Usagi-chan? There's supposed to be a lunar eclipse
tonight!"
The six girls and two cats were gathered at Hikawa Shrine, and the
atmosphere was jovial. Rei and Usagi were even getting along for
once. Usagi blinked at Ami. "Huh?"
"Baka," Rei said, dispelling the notion that she could be civil to
Usagi for an extended period of time. "That's when the sun, moon, and
Earth are aligned so that for a little while, the moon falls in
Earth's shadow, so it can't be seen."
"Oh." Usagi blinked, not entirely comprehending.
That night, as predicted, shortly after sunset, the moon, which had
been full, silently slipped into darkness. Usagi sat by her window,
gazing sadly up at the vanishing crescent. "It's like going through a
full month in one night, isn't it, Luna?" she asked softly.
"Sure seems like it, Usagi-chan," Luna said, sighing.
"Say, Luna...back in the Silver Millenium...did the Moon Kingdom see
Earth eclipses?"
Luna giggled. She was about to respond, but was caught short by a
strangled yelp from Usagi as the girl doubled over, clutching her
chest. She had not yet changed out of her school fuku, and Luna
noticed light leaking from between her fingers.
"Luna...help...it hurts..."
Usagi fell backwards onto the floor, and screamed in pain.
Chibi-Usa, Ikuko, Kenji, and Shingo burst into the room, and the two
adults panicked at the sight before them.
Usagi's brooch exploded, and the Ginzuishou emerged from it, glowing
like a miniature moon. The crystal suddenly shattered, its fragments
resolving into seven smaller, chromatic crystals. Luna gasped.
"No...it's impossible..."
Shingo was the only one calm enough to notice the cat had just
spoken. Usagi's parents stared, transfixed, at the seven glowing
crystals. One piece, a red crystal, sank back towards Usagi, and
returned to the brooch, which reassembled itself...in its original
form, the one Luna had given her so long ago. With no fanfare,
Usagi's school uniform dissolved, replaced by the sailor-fuku of
Sailor Moon...the original version.
Usagi's parents went limp at this, while Shingo nearly fainted. Luna
and Chibi-Usa, meanwhile, had their eyes on the remaining six rainbow
crystals.
The six crystals rose into the air, and brooches of various colors
began forming around them. "What's happening, Luna?" Chibi-Usa asked.
The black cat shook her head, eyes wide. "I...don't know," she said
quietly.
A swirl of colored light flowed from each brooch, forming six
familiar glowing silhouettes. Each silhouette slowly developed a
sailor-fuku, each done in different colors. Simultaneously, all six
finished, ending in the same pose, one hand behind her back, one over
her head in a salute.
All six figures were, without a doubt, Tsukino Usagi...Sailor Moon.
Chibi-Usa shrieked, and fainted. Luna bolted for the window, and ran
off into the night.
Sailor Moon...all six of the ones standing...blinked at the scene,
blinked at each other, and blinked at the unconscious one on the
floor.
"What the hell's going on here?" all six of them asked in unison.
