'Kay...
I'm trying to write out this scene for my fic, and I'm a bit
confused as to how Nodoka's mom might react (I haven't seen much of her:
that one OAV, and a couple of untranslated bits in V.37+38).
Basically, 'Ranko' is explaining his side of what happened at a
party the previous night; the version Nodoka hears has Ranma drinking a
fair bit, hanging out with the guys (and therefore pretty much ignoring
Akane), getting into a fight (over being called unmanly), and then getting
into a big argument with Akane and having the engagement killed.
How would Nodoka react?
(For instance, would she care that Ranma didn't pay attention to
Akane throughout the entire night - being married to the likes of Genma,
would she expect that from a 'manly' man?)
As far as 'hanging out with the guys and drinking,' and fighting to defend
his honor, I suspect that Nodoka would consider these things manly.
Breaking the engagement, OTOH, would -not- be the honorable, or manly, thing
to do.
Paying attention to Akane during the party is not necessarily a 'manly'
thing to do, or an 'unmanly' thing either.
