Seraphim's Judgment:
Part 11a:
Big Trouble in Tiny Tokyo




	As the clock hit midday, all was calm in Tokyo-3. Too calm. The city 
was evacuated and the only sounds were of the few insects that dared to 
enter and the near silent snow falling.

	Even within NERV, all was quiet. Every officer in the Central Dogma 
stared only at the large radar screen. Just waiting for the first blips 
of enemy activity to show up. In every pocket, there was a handgun, over 
every shoulder a SMG was held. Comm officers, commanders, and even 
runners were armed with weapons. Everyone of them new that the UN now 
considered them all traitors. 

	But they all knew that whatever they did, they had to hold out until 
the enemy EVAs could be destroyed. Otherwise... all was lost. 

*************************************************

	"Commander! We have two groups of hover ships coming in from the north. 
Not only that, we have a battalion of tanks coming from the west!" 
Makoto screamed to the commanders. 

	Misato answered him, "All right. Use one of the N2 mines we placed on 
the western side as a warning for the tanks. Get the AA guns set for the 
hover ships. Don't shoot 'em down, just tell them that we mean 
business."

	Makoto and Shigeru acknowledged her and set the weapons for the enemy. 
Soon enough, a rumble went through the room. Misato waited for a minute 
before speaking to Makoto, seeing the blurred area of the screen.

	"How many tanks were caught in the blast?"

	"Getting count... zero. All enemy tanks are holding position."

	Misato smirked, then turned to Shigeru, "What's the status on the hover 
ships."

	"Well, like with Hyuuga, no hits so far, but they're holding position 
as well."

	"Good. Hyuuga, patch me through to the general of the UN forces here."

	A few minutes later, a line between Misato and the head of the attack 
forces on NERV was established.

	"In case you haven't noticed Katsuragi, we got you surrounded and 
outnumbered. Save yourself the trouble and surrender!"

	"Well... in case _YOU_ haven't guessed, we got enough ammo to take your 
boys out. That first mine was just a warning. No matter what direction 
you attack from, we'll see it coming."

	"Well, what do you guys want?"

	"Oh come on! Why are you guys messing around with these guys when you 
can just send in the big guns and take us all out at once?" 

	"What are you getting at?"

	"I mean the nine EVAs you guys got up your sleeves. Why aren't you 
using them, little man?" with that, she made a slash motion across her 
neck, signaling Makoto to cut the line. Sure enough, the line was cut as 
the commander was screaming bloody murder at being insulted.

	"Something's not right." Gendou said sitting on his desk. Fuyustuki 
nodded.

	"Either the guy they sent in is a complete incompetent, or SEELE's just 
playing with us."

	Misato added behind her shoulder, "I'll put my money on the latter. If 
what you told me about these guys is right, they don't make mistakes 
like this at all." 

	Her bet was justified as another explosion rocked the Dogma. 

	"Sir! We just got confirmation! We have nine production type 
Evangelions. Commencing air to surface strikes about a quarter of a mile 
in the air! It looks like they're descending for surface attack!" Makoto 
screamed. 

	"Prepare the four EVAs for..."

	"Sir! We got a another... no make that two...no, six battle waves of 
tanks, troops, and hover ships! Coming from all sides!" Shigeru yelled 
in a panic. 

	"Prepare the EVAs for deployment! Reset the N2 mines! Get ALL AA guns 
up and working! MOVE OUT!" Misato ordered as quickly as she could. 

*************************************************

	In the darkness, the five remaining members of SEELE were speaking 
amongst themselves.

	"So, once we get rid of NERV, we start the HCP as soon as possible?" 
The man in green said to his boss. 

	"Of course. We only need to get Rei and then Adam together. Then the 
advancement of the human race will be assured."

	"That's good, and� AAARRRGGG!!" the man in blue's image fizzled out. 
The remaining four looked on in horror as the man in red was taken out 
of the picture too. They all knew that it was the UN, Gendou wasn't that 
bold to try something that stupid. Yet, they could do nothing as the 
rest of the heads of SEELE were wiped out.  

*************************************************

	Despite the large amount of numbers the AA guns took out, the numbers 
of the UN hover ships were just too great. One by one, the AA guns were 
taken out. 

	Yet, another factor came into the fray of the swarming ships. A glowing 
blue object flew from the ground, and collided with anything foolish 
enough to get in its way. The light was shaped into what looked like a 
hawk. Any of the ships hit by the blue light found their systems down, 
making them easy targets for the remaining AA guns. 

Not only that, but arrows made of gold light, shot with precise 
accuracy, took down several at a time. From the highest tower of the 
city, a suit of silver, white, and gray armor took careful aim at each 
target. Teknos Arrow was causing quite a panic in every direction she 
fired upon. None of them could figure out where exactly the shots were 
coming from and a few collided with each other in panic. 

Suddenly, she fell backward when a beam of red screamed past the 
building she was on. She looked up to see the source of the blast. 

In the sky, were nine flying Evanelions. Only, these ones didn't appear 
to be the ones like the ones in NERV. They were all colored white, they 
all had wings, black on the underside and white on the back, eight of 
them carried a black, odd shaped lance, save for what appeared to be the 
leader, who carried a two pronged spear.  They had heads that seemed to 
resemble lizards than humans, with teeth between a red gap around them.  
In fact, they could have been considered lips. 

Arrow looked on in horror at the very inhuman EVAs as they all landed in 
a ground to the southwest of Tokyo-3. She shook her head as she heard 
the entry passages from the four other EVAs open and returned to her 
sniper attack. Not at all knowing that someone was watching her. 

Meanwhile, the blue light had found itself under attack. Teknos Katana 
knew her takonium armor was strong, but she didn't want to test to see 
if multiple attacks from explosives would hurt her. She knew that if she 
didn't get out of there soon, these ships could most likely take her 
out. 

An explosion to her right threw her backwards as she saw not only 
another N2 mind go off, but also seeing a red beam of light from above. 
She had no time to find its source as she dodged another slew of 
missiles. Thinking quickly, she dove for the trees below and flew 
underneath them to avoid her pursuers. 

She had lost them, only to face a large number of tanks that aimed their 
shells at her. She hopped to the left and right in avoiding the shells, 
as she charged and slashed at their turrets. Rendering them all useless. 
Hoping to take a breather, she leaned against a tree that was suddenly 
shelled by standard issue machine guns. She dove away from the weapons 
and made a break for another tank battalion.

	In the heart of Tokyo-3, the four EVAs of NERV emerged and saw the face 
of the enemy� and wretched. 

	"Man� those are some butt-ugly machines they got!" Touji commented, 
then Rei's face appeared to his right.  

	"Don't let their appearances deceive you. We're only using prototypes. 
These are full production models, made for combat alone." She looked up 
ahead to the white and utterly hideous EVAs in front of them. 

That was when something she saw made her eyes go wide. She magnified the 
screen to confirm her fears. The EVA marked 05, was carrying the Lancea 
Longini! How was that possible? When last she saw it, the Seraphim threw 
it through the 15th angel. SEELE must have somehow recovered it. 

	She radioed NERV and spoke in a rushed tone. "Sir, the lead EVA has the 
Lancea Longini!" 

	Gendou's eyes grew wide in shock as he saw the two-pronged lance that 
was to be used as a stabilizer for the Third Impact. Now he needed 
answers. Getting up, he headed for his office. It looks like Khil had 
some talking to do. 

	"Continue Katsuragi. I'll be back."

	"Where're you going?"

	"Getting some answers."

*************************************************

	Back outside, the four EVAs of NERV found themselves facing off against 
the nine enemy EVAs that seemed to jeer them with the way their mouths 
were constructed. 

	Touji had already pulled out his prog sword and held it at the ready. 
Shinji held the axe that Asuka had used at an earlier time. Asuka was 
equipped with the same spear that she tried to slice the 7th angel in 
half with. While Rei was given Asuka's prog knife since it appeared that 
projectile weapons would be no good in this fight.

	In all four of the EVAs, Misato's face came into view on the bottom of 
the screen. "Alright you guys, you know the drill. Try and keep your 
U-Cords out of the way. Take these guys out as soon as you can! The 
sooner, the better! Now move out!"

	All nine of the EVAs charged as the four defenders used the city as 
their own advantage. 

Touji had jumped off a building and slashed downward at two of the enemy 
in front of him. The blade met with their combined AT Field only 
briefly, until it cut through and chopped off the head of 06, while 
meeting the spear 07 carried. 

Asuka was having a hard enough time defending herself from Units 09 and 
11, then Unit 12 decided to add to her agitation. She spin kicked one of 
them in the head, while using the momentum to slash at another. Both 
attacks were successful, but suddenly lost her balance when the third 
EVA rammed her in the back. 

After ducking a swipe from Unit 08, Shinji slashed off the head of it 
and stole the spear-lance to attack its two allies. It appeared that 
Unit 10 and 13 were not going to let Shinji do the same to them. One 
more of the enemy was gone, but there was still more left that were no 
less dangerous.

Charging, both of the EVAs that attacked her, Rei jumped over the Lancea 
and one of the spear-lances' to get behind them both. She thrust the 
prog knife into the neck of the EVA that had the Lancea and sliced it in 
two. Then, she took the Lance and brought it to bear against the other 
EVA. It easily broke through the AT Field and into the heart of the 
white EVA. With the spear in it stuck, she swung  the EVA around and as 
far as the blue colored giant would allow her.  
 
	Even with the Lancea in her hands, something didn't seem right. Killing 
these things had gotten a little too easy. All of a sudden, a pair of 
giant hands grabbed her ankles and pinned them to the ground. She tried 
to move, but the second EVA she killed had already struck the side of 
Unit 00's head. Knocking her away and knocking the Lancea out of her 
hands. 

	She looked up to see her attacker. It turned out that seemingly dead 
Unit 05 had literally fused with 08. It's arms and legs were attached to 
08's sides, making it even more hideous than ever. Looking her right, 
she saw the Lancea on the ground and the several hundred UN vehicles 
advancing in her direction. 

	Touji had been at a literal standoff with EVA 07. Almost matching every 
move to his own, it was very persistent at making the Fourth Child mad. 
In a rage, Touji knocked at the spear several times, knocking the white 
EVA off balance and attacking the unprotected belly of his foe. But it 
didn't end there. Touji slashed off every limb of Unit 07 until there 
was nothing left to chop off. 

	Breathing heavily, he didn't notice the head of Unit 06 and it's 
headless body coming toward him. He never got a chance to react as the 
head chomped his ankle and the body struck him on the back of the head. 
Growling in agitation, Touji kicked off the head from his foot and 
brought his sword up in time to deflect the spear-lance that would have 
taken off his head. 

	Asuka couldn't take it anymore! Screaming, she put up her AT Field and 
slammed into the three that attacked her and lanced the closest one 
through the head and swung it around and back at the other two. With the 
other two out of the way, she grabbed the head of the EVA she used as a 
weapon and tore it off. Throwing the head away, she repeatedly stabbed 
the EVA through the heart with her spear, not at all satisfied with just 
tearing its head off. 

	She looked up to see two of the spear lances flying at her. She raised 
her free hand and threw up her AT Field to knock them away. With them 
gone, she jumped up, flipped, and slashed downward across Unit 09's left 
shoulder and to it's right hip. Turning around, she threw the spear, 
point first, at Unit 11. After seeing Asuka do it, the enemy EVA threw 
up it's own AT Field to defend. After picking the dead EVA's 
spear-lance, Asuka ran to the other EVA's AT Field, side stepped it and 
attacked like a madman. 

	Shinji forced the other two EVAs into one of the buildings, giving him 
the time to get around the combined AT Field they set up. Sadly, both of 
them got out of the way before he could take their heads off. Then, the 
body of Unit 08 rammed into her back, sending him into the side of 
another building. 

	He was able to roll out of the way in time so that all the other EVAs 
hit was just the ground. He stared in shock at the headless EVA that 
continued to move. It appeared that these EVAs were more powerful than 
they thought. 

	This wasn't good. 

*************************************************

	"Khil! Khil! Answer me!" Gendou screamed in the darkness, from the desk 
he used to speak with his former companions. 

	All he got was silence. 

	Now he knew something was wrong. He tried to raise any of the other 
four, but he got the same responses from them too. He knew them, if 
there were still there, they would be rubbing his defeat in his face. 

	Now, it appeared that a third party had decided to take things into 
their own hands. The only suspects he could come up with were those 
spineless officials in the UN, which were told by SEELE what to do with 
their blackmails. It looked like they weren't so spineless after all.

*************************************************

	The ground was littered with the metal corpses of hover ships and tanks 
as a single hour of war between the UN forces and NERV dragged on. 

	With the remaining hover ships and tanks, they converged against the 
weakening four EVAs. Even with Teknos Katana and Arrow, the odds were no 
better. 

	Only a few of the buildings were still standing as they were used as 
cannon fodder, weapons, or shields. From the present view, it didn't 
look like it was going to be rebuilt any time soon. The skeletons of 
several of the buildings were the only things standing in some cases. 

	The four Children found the production EVAs to be the most frustrating 
enemies they ever faced yet. The worst part of it being that when one of 
them were chopped up by one means or another, they simply fused with one 
of the more complete EVAs. Creating a stronger monstrosity than before. 
At this point, it had finally went down to a four on four. Only the 
white EVAs were twice to three times as strong as before.  

	From one of the few remaining buildings, Teknos Arrow could only watch 
the battles between the EVAs from NERV and the four unnatural EVAs on 
the other side. 

	<Sera. > A mind said to her. She looked to see Nodoka had used some of 
the smoke screen to climb up to where she was. Both armored warriors had 
seen better days. Both of their suits of armor were smudged with dirt 
and covered with a several dents. 

	Nodoka crawled to the entrance on the roof that was still not taken out 
and laid against it to take a breather. Sera didn't need to ask if she 
was all right. Her right arm and leg had been hit more times than 
everywhere else and started bleeding. Walking to get a closer look at 
the injuries, all she got was Nodoka's hand. 

	"Help me up." She struggled to say. Sera pulled her up and they turned 
to see the NERV EVAs at the mercy of their hideously deformed enemies. 
Seeing this brought Nodoka to a decision she hoped she wouldn't hoped to 
have come to. Using thoughts, Nodoka explained on how they would both 
assist in the destruction of the mutated EVAs. Of course, Sera wasn't as 
in to it as she was. 

	"But we planned that we wouldn't show ourselves yet! What if�" Sera was 
interrupted as Nodoka started for the battle. 

	"It's either this or we just give up! And since I have a family to 
protect, I am NOT taking the latter!" the energy field of blue 
reappeared over her as she sped towards the farthest one. Sera huffed in 
agitation and then followed suit. 

	Touji found himself locked in a hand to hand game of mercy with one of 
the 'combined' EVAs. That is, until a blue light pierced into one of the 
two heads and into it's heart. Touji looked on in confusion, until it 
suddenly inflated and exploded, sending him backward. He was still 
standing and was able to get a gander at the remnants of the EVA.

>From the bloody wreckage, the suit of armor that caused it floated to 
the ground with its strength almost gone. Sera turned to the staring 
black EVA and spoke to it through the radio her armor was equipped with. 

	"Boy, go help the others. Don't worry about me!"

	Confused, Touji did as the woman said and went to go help Asuka. Along 
the way, he saw another stream of blue light pass by him to go to where 
Rei was. He figured it would be better to wait until after the battle, 
if these 'lights' would stay, to find out who they were.  

	Rei, unlike the others, was not faring so well. Her foe was the EVA 
that had once been three and was tossing her around like a puppet. The 
now six armed EVA through her into another building and was preparing to 
charge her again, but was stopped by one of the two blue lights that had 
joined the fight against the Angels. 

	The glowing blue hawk collided with one of the two faces on the EVA and 
flew out. Hitting it with all the speed it's weakened body could muster. 

	Rei shook her head to get the cobwebs out and looked at her new ally. 
She had no clue as to who or what this was, but she wasn't complaining. 
She forced her EVA up to assist in the attack, but came too late as she 
was batted away with one pair of hands while another struck the blue 
light, that was Teknos Katana, into the ground. 

	Nodoka's body could only feel pain at that moment. It seared through 
her whole body and into her soul. Between heavy breaths, she saw the 
giant white multiple appendaged monster come toward her instead of it's 
original attacker. From the corner of her eye, she could see a faint 
light getting closer. The Seraphim was coming after all, although very 
late. Yet, it appeared she wasn't going to make it in time this time. 
The EVA's hand extended and like out of a monster movie, the fingers 
thinned out, sharpened, and flew straight at her near-prone body. 

	The Seraphim screamed out 'no' and pushed Nodoka out of the way in 
time. Yet, she didn't have enough time to save herself as the multiple 
spires meant for Nodoka pierced various parts of her body. Two in each 
leg, several in the back, two through the heart,  three in the lungs, 
one in the right shoulder, and several more through her arms. 

	Both Nodoka and Rei gasped at the horrid sight of the Seraphim's once 
beautiful white gown, now stained with her own blood. The pain searing 
through the angel's body was so great, she had no strength left to 
scream and began to fell limp. Adrenaline filled Nodoka's veins as she 
chopped the white spires that had lanced Seraphim's body, and dragged 
her away as Rei attacked the EVA. 

	"N� Nodoka� are you unhurt?" the angel asked weakly. The woman nodded 
her head in response and tried to take out the large number of white 
colored spears that had injured her. "Good." The angel spoke quietly, 
after coughing up a little blood that began to spill from her mouth. 
		
	"Nodoka�," the angel got out, clenching her teeth and eyes shut, trying 
to ignore the pain to speak, "�I'm sorry. I should have never asked you 
to do such a thing. Maybe if I had just�" she was cut off as Nodoka 
shushed her and said that talking will only worsen the injuries. The 
angel opened her eyes to see Nodoka still tending to her wounds.

	Then, she smiled and whispered even more quietly, "No need to *cough* 
fear for me Nodoka� my *cough* troubles are almost� over�." With that, 
her head fell limp to the side. Her life force no longer within her 
body. This single soul, had done more than any one would have known for 
the good of man. 

	Bowing her head, Nodoka reached up and closed the eyelids of the 
Seraphim for the last time.
