Ranma 1/2: Ranma reborn




Ranma: Um, w-who are you?

Shori: (Gently embraces Ranma)Kazyo, I've finally found you.

Akane: (Getting angry)W-what's going on here, Ranma?

Ranma: I-I haven't any idea.

Shori: (Releases Ranma)'Ranma'? Is that your name?

Ranma: Y-yes, that's my name. I'm sorry but you have the wrong person.

Shori: No, I don't. 

Ranma: Huh?

Akane: ......

Shori: You and I were lovers.

Ranma: W-what?!

Akane: What?!

Shori: But you won't remember that.

Ranma: W-what are you talking about?

Shori: Kazyo, I mean `Ranma', you were reborn in this world.so the two 
of us could be together.

Ranma: What?!
  
Akane: W-what going on here? What are you talking about?

Shori: (Checks Ranma out)W-where's your locket?

Ranma: Locket? What locket?

Shori: T-the locket you possessed when you were reborn in this world.

Ranma: I don't know what you're talking about. I think you have the 
wrong person. My name's Ranma, Ranma Saotome.

Shori: (To Ranma)Where's the locket? 

Ranma: I don't know what locket you're talking about. I never had a 
locket before.

Shori: It'll prove that I'm not lying. That locket contains your memory.

Ranma: Memory? What do you mean by that?

Shori: You were reborn in this world knowing absolutely nothing.

Akane: Of course he was. Everyone's born like that.

Shori: (To Akane)No. Not like that. 

Ranma: Then what do you mean?

Shori: You don't belong on this world, to this time. It was never meant 
to be, but I found a way to bring you back to this world with me.

Ranma: Huh?

Akane: .......

Shori: You probably think I'm crazy, but I assure you, I'm not. And I 
can prove it. Where's that locket?

Ranma: I don't know what locket you're talking about.

Shori: (Panicking)D-don't tell me y-you lost it.

Ranma: How can I lose something I never had? I never owned a locket in 
my life.

Shori: (Thinks for a moment)Hm, perhaps the person who found you might 
still have it.

Ranma: The person who found me?

Shori: Yes, the person who took you in and raised you.

Ranma: Took me in? What are you talking about?

Shori: I'm pretty sure you would consider him your father or mother.

Ranma: My pop? What about him? What do you mean he took me in? He and my 
mother had me.

Shori: No they didn't. You were reborn, not borne, in this world as the 
little child you once were except you have no memories of me or your 
childhood friends.

Ranma: Huh?

Shori: Where's your father?

Ranma: He's home.

Shori: Please, take me to him. I must talk to him. There's still a 
chance he will have that locket.

Ranma: Home? Now? No. I don't even know who you are.

Shori: Look, I know you don't believe a word I say-

Ranma: You're damn right I don't.

Shori: (Sighs)I figured this would happen, that I would have to prove to 
you who I am.

Ranma: .......

Shori: Just give me a chance, and I'll prove to you that I'm not lying.

Akane: ......

Ranma: But we have school. Can't this wait until some other day?

Shori: No, we can't. I've gone sixteen years looking for you, and I'm 
not going to let you walk out of my life again.

Ranma: (To Akane)Well, what should we do?

Akane: I-I don't know.

Ranma: Um, I guess I can afford to skip class for one day.

Akane: No you can't. You're doing horrible in school as it is.

Shori: (To Ranma)Is that true? How can that be? You're a very smart 
person.

Akane: Now I know she's not telling the truth. Ranma? Smart?

Ranma: Hey!

Shori: Look, can I have a talk with your father? I need to speak to him. 
He'll clear things up.

Ranma: (Sighs)Fine.

Akane: But what about school?

Ranma: Well, who cares about school, this is more interesting anyway.

Shori: Yes, it really is. You'll see. Let's go.

(Ranma heads off toward home with Shori following closely behind)

Akane: Ah, to hell with school. Wait up! (Chases after them)

(Scene changes to the Tendo home. We are in the livingroom where we see 
Ranma, Shori, Genma, and Akane sitting around a table. Kasumi went 
shopping and she dragged Soun with her.)

Ranma: This is my father, Genma Saotome. What is it you wanted to speak 
to him about?

Shori: (To Genma)Did you and your wife have `Ranma'?

Genma: What? Y-yes.we did.

Shori: You're lying.

Genma: I don't know what you're talking about.

Shori: Yes, you do. You found `Ranma' when he was a little baby.

Genma: (Nervously)I-I don't know what you're talking about..

Shori: Yes, you do. You never had Ranma. You took Ranma in and raised 
him as your own, but he's not your son.

Ranma: I-is that true?

Genma: (Nervously)N-no! I-it's not true! Y-you are, I-indeed, my son!

Shori: Don't listen to him, `Ranma', you don't have a father in this 
world we live in. You were never born in this world.

Ranma: I don't get it.

Shori: (Points toward Genma)Your `father' found you. You may consider 
him your `father', but you're not truly his son. Your real, biological 
father died a long long time ago.

Ranma: .......

Shori: (To Genma)What happened to the locket that you found `Ranma' 
with? When you found him, he was wearing a locket, where is it?

Genma: L-locket?! I-I don't know w-what you're saying!

Ranma: (Curious)How come I have the funny feeling you're trying to hide 
something?!

Genma: S-son., I'm n-not lying! Y-you are my son!

Ranma: .......

Shori: Just tell him! `Ranma' was never your child! You found him!

Genma: .......

Akane: I-is that true?

Shori: (Sighs)I know you'll never admit it because you love `Ranma' as 
much as a real father would his son.but the fact is is that `Ranma's' 
biological dad isn't you.

Genma: (Tearing)I-it's n-not true.

(Everyone is silent. They all know Genma is lying)

Shori: Where's the locket you found `Ranma' with? He came to this world 
wearing a locket around his neck, what happened to it?

Genma: I-I don't know what you're s-saying.

Shori: Don't lie! You found `Ranma' and he was wearing a locket. That 
locket is very important. 

Ranma: W-what's so important about that locket?

Shori: It contains all your memories. With that locket, you will 
remember who I am and all the things we've been through.

Ranma: ......

Shori: (About to cry)B-but your `father' keeps insisting that there was 
no locket.

Genma: ......

Ranma: (To Genma)Is what she said true? Did you find me?

Genma: .......

Ranma: Well?

Genma: .......

Ranma: Speak up, pop!

Genma: Yes! Yes, I found you! I found you when you were really young!

Ranma: .......

Akane: ......

Shori: A-and what about that locket?

Genma: ......

Shori: `Ranma' was wearing a locket when you found him?

Genma: (Softly)Yes, he was.

Shori: Where is it?

Genma: I-I don't know.

Shori: What do you mean? D-did you lose it?

Genma: P-perhaps. I h-haven`t seen it since the day I found him.

Shori: N-no. No. P-please don't say it true.

Genma: I-I'm sorry.

Shori: (Crying)Don't you get it? That locket contains (Points to 
Ranma)Kazyo's memories. Without it, `Ranma' will never become the person 
he was born on this world to be.

Ranma: .......

Shori: (To Ranma)Can't you see how much this hurts? I love you. I've 
always loved you.b-but you'll never know that because you'll never get 
your memory back. Can't you see that I don't want to lose you!
Not again!!!

Ranma: .......

Akane: Ranma.

Shori: (To Ranma)Y-you promised me!You promised that you would never 
forget me!!! (Starts sobbing)A-and y-you're breaking that promise.

Ranma: .......

Shori: (Still crying) The o-only reason why y-your here is so w-we could 
be together. 

Ranma: (Sighs)This is so damn confusing.

Shori: What?

Ranma: All of this. I don't know what to make of it.

Shori: I know. You don't know whether or not to believe me. I was scared 
something like this was going to happen.

Ranma: Can you please explain everything to me again?

Shori: Yes. You're real name is Kazyo Mishino. You used to live in this 
world over ten centuries ago. My father had build a time machine and I 
accidentally traveled back in time when I was little. I traveled all the 
way back in time to the time when you were alive. While in the past, I 
met you and we fell in love. I would have stayed in the past to be with 
you, but I, being from the future, was causing the timeline to collapse 
in on itself because my being there was creating a parallel timeline to 
form, a timeline paradox, in a sense. So that was why I had to come back 
to my time.

Ranma: Go on.

Shori: Since I had to come back, I decided to bring you to my time. 
Unfortunately, if we did that, you would lose all your memory of me. So 
I found a way to put all your memory into a locket, and together, we 
came back to this time. Unfortunately, no one can travel back to a time 
where they already existed.

Ranma: Huh?

Shori: When I came back to my time, I missed the time I was supposed to 
arrive at by sixteen years. When I came back, I came back to the exact 
time of when I was born. So, I was born again. But the thing is, I kept 
all my memory. That meant that when I was born, I had already 
experienced sixteen years of life. You, on the other hand, came back to 
my time but as a little baby. You just appeared out of thin air, wearing 
that locket full of memories. It was my job to find you and restore your 
memory. That was how we were going to be together. Unfortunately, I 
hadn't anticipated being born as a kid again so I was forced to live for 
sixteen years until I could finally set out on my own to find you. And 
now that I found you..

Ranma: I won't remember you because the locket was lost.

Shori: (Starting to cry again)Yes.

Ranma: Perhaps it's better that way.

Shori: No it isn't. W-we were meant to be together. You promised me.

Ranma: .......

Shori: But we never will because the locket was lost. All your memory of 
me was lost. So from where you stand, I just look like an ordinary girl, 
not the girl you fell in love with .

Ranma: I-I'm sorry.

Shori: (Wipes tears)Perhaps you might be right. Perhaps it is better 
this way.

Ranma: Yes.

Shori: At least I'll be happy knowing that you turned out all right, 
even though you and Kazyo aren't the same person in a sense.

Ranma: I have a question though.

Shori: Yes?

Ranma: Exactly what would have happened if the locket hadn't been lost.

Shori: You would have remembered me and we would have been together 
again.

Ranma: And what about everyone else? Akane? My pop? My friends? 

Shori: You'll forget about them.

Ranma: ........

Shori: I understand what you mean. Perhaps this is for the better. It 
doesn't seem right to forget someone just so they could remember someone 
else.

Ranma: I guess you're right.

Shori: (Smiles weakly)Look, I'm glad that after sixteen years, I can 
finally sleep easier at night knowing that my Kazyo is okay.

Ranma: I'm sure Kazyo loved you very very much.

Shori: And I loved him very much.

Ranma: (Smiles)Then I'm sure he would feel great knowing that. 

Shori: I hope so. It's just too bad I'll never find out.

Ranma: (Places hands on Shori's shoulder)Look, I'm sorry it turned out 
this way, but I think it's better it remain like this. 

Shori: You're right. (Short pause)Well, I better get going now.

Ranma: Are you sure you're going to be all right?

Shori: Yes. I'll be fine. Even though I love you, I mean Kazyi, very 
much, I'm sure I'll find someone again.

Ranma: .......

Shori: I'm sorry for intruding in on your life. I'm sorry about you 
finding out that `Genma' isn't your real father. 

Ranma: (Smirks)It's okay. Actually I'm kinda glad now.

Genma: that's not funny, boy.

Shori: Well, thank you for giving me a chance. I'll leave you alone. 
You'll never see me again.

Ranma: .......

Shori: (Sad)Goodbye.

(Shori leaves)

Ranma: (Softly)Goodbye, Shori.

Akane: How do you know her name when she never told us?

(Ranma reaches into his pocekt and rubs

Ranma: (Softly)I just do.

(Fade to black)

Well...there's another one. I have no idea why I wrote this. I'm 
serious. All I had was a title 'Ranma reborn' and I wrote a fanfic based 
on that. It's quite odd that I based my fanfic on a title instead of the 
other way around. I guess I'm weird :) First off, I'd like to say that 
these characters were created by Rumiko Takahashi and that I would never 
infringe on any of her works. Please e-mail me if you have comments. 
Keep in mind that I like writing development stories. I'm sorry for any 
spelling or grammatical mistakes.
