I just started reading a nice little fic called "Macho Caballo"
and was a saddened to see that the author(s) James and the Bluejay
had decided to postcontinuing works from this series on a web site rather
than run the gauntlet of "original fiction vrs anime "

Now I think that the story is quite obviously based on anime and is
simply an alternate departure in a story.
as a matter of fact I get the impression that if this was indeed from
Takahashi-sama then she was watching a "Zorro" film fest at the time and
had a secret desire to BE Tom Mix :)

Be thayt as it may, What I'd like to see is what the "official" position
on this sort of fic is.....
I mean...We've seen "Star Wars" retold with Ranma characters as well as
other stuff which (in my view) perhaps drifts further past the lists
mandate (not that I didn't like it).
Is anything produced by Japanese animators fair game?
What about something in a realistic vein such as Sanctuary? (which uses
say, two women who struggle for power and dominance...one through poitics,
the other through the underworld and their trusted allies....Say one is
named....Stingray.....)
We've seen a lot of "anime gets literary" but what about the other side.

Wuthering Heights as an anime comedy? or perhaps a space opera?

I'm curious....
I mean for MC the case could plainly be made for an "original flavor"
version or Ranma...perhaps a post by writers submitting such a work
introducing it before it's actually posted with an insight into the story
as anime...???

                    Full beautiful, a faery's child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light
                    And her eyes were wild.
