 This sounds like the original idea I had for my fanfic series It's a Mad,
Mad World where
people you would never think would get together (Nodoka and Ryouga, Akari
and Akane etc.)
But I changed the premise so it won't be so much of that crap. Your idea
sounds a little better though. 
Mine was pretty much that I had no idea why those people got together they
just did. Oh yeah
I think I'll be releasing chapters three and four of IMMW this week. If I
get around to it that is.

  Here's an idea that I sent to Ross Ten Eyck for his non-canonical matchup
stories, but as you can see, he didn't use it -

"  I just had a really weird thought.  What about a story where Genma and
Nodoka get divorced, and the eventually the following pairs emerge:
Nodoka-Ryoga, Genma-Akane, Ranma-Prozac."
