Now I'm not quite sure, but I thought the part of Robotech where we have 
the Invid came from the series Genesis Climber Mospedia.

Someone tell me if I'm right or wrong.

The invid were featured in the Mospeada-derived section of Robotech,
although they were referred to in the other 2 parts. 

No idea what they really were in Genesis Climber Mospeada.
