Ukyo is correct.  Ukyou is correct.  Ukyoo is correct.

The first require knowing that the o is a long o sound.  The second and
third are the two standard ways of showing that it's a long o sound.

I expect that part of the problem is in the way we, as english speakers
see those vowel combinations as being pronounced.

I would never use 'oo' simply because it brings to mind an 'eww' sound
like 'loop.'

Yes, I know this isn't the case, but that's the way my mind works, leave
me alone.  I expect this is the way many people's mind works.

Of course, that doesn't explain why I use Ryouga and Ryoga interchangably,
but at least I'm consistent in the fic I'm writing, which is the most
important consideration.
