Heh. With all this good-and-evil talk going on, I may as well talk about
the philosophy I somehow ended up mapping out for my writing:
One of the metaphysical philosophies that tends to form the basis
for a deal of my writing is that NOTHING in the universe is totally good or
totally
evil. Everything in the physical universe is the result of a COMBINATION of
a plane of pure good (basically Heaven) and a plane of pure evil (basically
Hell), where there HAS NEVER BEEN any of the opposing force. If somebody
manages to purge all of one or the other from their being (an exceptionally
rare event), they then become a part of one of these planes (if I ever get
around to writing "Aurum War" (yeah, right), you'll see more about this).
Even somebody like Neo-Queen Serenity would have some evil as a part of
herself, (not much, but some), and there's no way to stop it from
encroaching on an area. You just have to have the willpower to dilute it.
Hey, you can even go further:
There are the usual two ultimate forces, love and hate, order and chaos,
whatever, locked in an eternal war.
Life can only exist on the thin borderline between these two. So the
final goal of every form of life has to be to preserve this state of war.
There mustn't be a winner for it would be the end of all life. By that
humans have to work for both sides to ensure the ongoing of the war.
Interesting concept?
