Listen, oh high-and-mighty ego. I stated that from the two EQUALLY
VALID spellings of each name, I find the "ou" form more aesthetically
pleasing, and therefore use it. I am not "changing the spelling" of
someone's name... first of all, their names are correctly spelled with
KANJI. No single Romanization (conversion to our character set) of the
kanji is the "correct" one.
Numerous (and when I say numerous, I mean hundreds) of people
tried to explain the "Japanese Phoenetic Vowel (or possibly bowel)
Soundy Gobbeldy Gook" which I still do not entirely understand... BUT
DON"T TRY EXPLAINING IT AGAIN!!! Still, I'll except Ukyou over the
SNES game version of the nake whichi is spelled: Ukkyo.
Which is, by the way, entirely wrong. Ukyo is valid. Ukyou is valid.
Ukkyo is an error.
I still don't like this plague of "U"s going around but I'll live with
them until I can pass a law banning them permanently.
Three words. Deal with it.
