This is just a break between my next section of "The Game" Tell me what You think of this. I am very limited in my Sailor Senshi information as the only anime of it that I have watch comes on USA at eight thirty in the morning. While I like that later episodes, the earlier ones just make me bored. all other info I have gotten has came from reading fics, so enjoy.
People have been commenting on how I don't get the tenses right when writing these things, so I
thought I would go with first person to make it easier on myself. This is my first Sailor Senshi fic
(I think, I can't remember). C+C welcome as are MSTs. Please be gentle but true.
I make no claim to the Sailor Moon or the Sailor Senshi in any way, form, or deed. While I do not know who owns them. I ask that you please excuse this poor attempt of work using your characters. Please forgive this not-so humble human being as I am poor.
Here I was again. In front of a group of people I didn't know, about to be ordered to do something that no one else could or would do. Who were these people? And why did they hold my leash? Well it's a long story but the short of it was, was that I'm the best there is at what I do and what I do isn't very nice, to quote a popular comic book character. Their goals were at the moment the same as mine. To keep the world safe from those that would endanger it, at least in their eyes. Lately I've been thinking that they have become a little nearsighted in their views. Not that I would tell them that, I would disappear in a New York minute. At least they would try. One doesn't usually retire from this type of work voluntarily, but lately things have been quieting down and they would probably have no use for me anymore. Until that time they'll keep me around.
I was told that I was to be loaned to a friendly group over in Japan. It seems that a group of terrorists have been interfering with their plans. All attempts to remove this group have been nullified with extreme prejudice. It seems that every agent that they deployed against them never made it back, not all that strange given our line of work. I would be given the utmost support in this endeavor, failure is not an option. I could do anything and have anything to get the job done, as long as the mission was successful. Hmm. This must be big, the last time I got an unlimited budget was that little European fiasco a couple years back. Don't ask, let's just say it was loud and messy. I was especially surprised when they said I could raid the special OPS for my equipment. I have never had the opportunity to do that before. Someone must be paying them a shit load of money indeed to authorize this kind of stuff.
After getting documents on the man I was suppose to meet, and a short briefing on my targets, too short for my liking, I set off for Japan. First class of course. I love this new super-information age. On the flight over I got a review of the possible personnel to pick for my team. This kind of job called for specialists, why else would they pick me. I decided to go with some locals. That would make it easier to find out more about the targets. For the rest of this story I will refer to said individuals by handles or code-names, as I do not wish for these individuals to implied when the shit hit the fan.
Mole is a communications and surveillance expert, she'll be covering any and all news about the targets. Wiper and Sweeper are the cleanup guys, any messes we make will be their responsibility to cover over. All of them have their own people working for them. They all checked out. I myself, Eagle, would be the technical and weapons specialist. I'm the guy who will take out the targets. After Mole gives me a run down about the targets and what our dignitary can give us, I'll determine what methods to use to nullify the targets. That is pretty much my team, with the push of a button each is notified of their contracts. Did I say how much I love technology? Well it makes my job a whole lot easier.
Upon arriving in Tokyo General airport, I was met by one of the most unusual people I have ever seen. He was just as arrogant as most of those who believe too much of themselves. There wasn't anything different about him either, it was just, I don't know. In my line of work you learn to trust your instincts about people, who you can count on in a fire fight and who you never turn your back to. He was one of the later. Oh he was polite enough, its just it seemed as if that was a mask and he wouldn't mind eating me for breakfast. Still he was my contact, so I wasn't going to take him out just yet.
We drove to the old fallout shelter that has been converted into a temporary HQ. Two more are waiting in different locations incase we have to abandon this local. Mole was already at work digging up anything about the targets. We wouldn't have to call Wiper and Sweeper in until we're ready to move, which could be sometime.
Mr. Merxix then gave me the general rundown on the targets. As far as was known there were ten total. It seems that five work as the main group with one floater who bales them out if they get into too much trouble. There were also four backups for when they launch a full scale confrontation. Although one of those four was not always reliable. With the exception of the floater, the whole group is female. Not that it made any difference to me, I've know some real fem-fatales in my life. They all, except for the floater, had code-names based on celestial bodies. They all had different abilities, wether psionic or magical in nature has not been determined yet. The leader of the group was seemingly the one called Sailor Moon. Her main abilities come from artifacts that she wields. The tiara on her head can be converted to a disk of light that can disintegrate targets, she seems quite skilled at hitting her targets. She also possesses a scepter (were she keeps it, I have no idea) that both heals and destroys. And what I was told the most important thing of all, was a crystal that can unleash massive amounts of energy. It was some kind of suicide device for using it greatly endangers the user. The other four members of her shock troops were, Sailor Mars, a pyrotechnic, (note to self, she is also known to use demon wards). The next on the list was Sailor Jupiter, she was the brawn of the group, her specialty was electricity, she also had some hand-to-hand combat experience. Sailor Venus uses a laser-like light ability she can use it to form chains of light or strait out laser attacks, suspected to possess some psionic ability. [ Note: seems to match the characteristics of a vigilantly that was in England for a brief period of time. What was her name? Sailor V or something. Possibly same person.] Sailor Mercury is the brains of the group, their computer expert. She uses water or a like substance using it to create fogs or to freeze her targets. The floater, code-named Tuxedo Kamen, has minor telekinetic abilities which he uses to be able to leap large distances and use roses as projectile weapons. Other weapons include a cane which he uses with the same efficiency as a sword. There seems to be a romantic connection between Tuxedo Kamen and Sailor Moon, although it is not guaranteed that he will show up in a fight. He was a wild card. Mr. Merxix stated that the others were of no consequence Take out the five and the rest would disperse. Well he was the one who created the contract so I'll go with his assessment until I can make my own.
So it began. One must always study your target before going in for the kill. You never know when they'll pull something you've never seen before. The few battles that were recorded did not turn out like I expected. From what I was told, I expected hard core killers. Or at least, crazy activists. They were obviously juveniles, with the exception of the three outer Senshi and that Tuxedo Kamen. While not limited to range weapons, their combat skills were poor indeed. It seems that they rely more on luck than anything else. Still it would be better to know more about them before charging in like amateurs. So after every scene, a thorough investigation was conducted over the battle site. While going over the remains of all the battles it was noticed that the creatures that the Scouts usually fought disintegrate when they were killed. There wasn't even enough left over to get a reading from. After about ten such investigations it was determined to call in that marker I was given and start pulling out the high tech gear. To say Mole was excited to get this stuff was putting it mildly. I was sure she was going to make a mess on the floor just as soon as I presented them to her. It would make up for the extra danger I'd be putting her through in the next couple of weeks. After that things went along a little easier.
Things would have gone a lot more easier if not for Mr. Merxix always checking on me every single day. He wasn't the most patient person there was that's for sure. After his first temper tantrum I had installed psychic dampers alone the whole base. What had happened was this, Wiper made some comment about the targets, one that Mr. Merxix did not care for. He was very strong, putting Wiper up against the wall in a heartbeat. I was sure he was going to kill him if I hadn't put the barrel of my gun to the base of his skull. I had already realized that he had some kind of psionic powers at the time, very powerful ones at that. Still I've learned from experience, no matter how powerful they are, a bullet to the brain stops just about anyone cold.
I made it a note to keep a watcher on Mr. Merxix also. He seemed to know when one of
the monsters, I think he called them Youma or something. Of course being psychic, he could
have had premonitions about the attacks. Either that or he had a in with the creatures, I did not
like that thought. What Wiper said about the targets, how they were destroying the monsters for
some reason. What that reason was seemed to irritate Merxix a great deal. I was again
wondering what I would do. Well that was for another day. For tomorrow we begin the first
stage of our mission. I just had to get something special from storage. Fortunately as head of this
mission I have final say about all these sort of things.
Mission Priority One: Blind the Enemy
According to Merxix, a Youma was due to show up at one of the numeral social functions that seemed to occur in the area. I had Wiper and Sweeper plant the little surprises that would help us accomplice our first objective. I had positioned myself about half a klick away on top of a secure building. I pulled out Silent-Thunder from her case and proceeded to get ready. Even though the attack wasn't suppose to happen for hours I wanted everyone in position. While I was waiting I went over all the information that we had gathered so far about the group.
They had first appeared over six months ago. It seemed to begin with this Sailor Moon. Over the weeks the others soon joined her. Witnesses to the fights state that two cats were always seen at the battles as well. The cats have even attacked some of the Youma when the girls were being overwhelmed. If anything it gave the girls the breather they needed to regroup to finish the attack. Like all young girls with a common interest, they seemed to bond within a few days of meeting one and other. That is with the exception of Sailor Mars and Moon. Sources had claimed that they were at odds with each other over something that they couldn't place. Some kind of rivalry or something? What could it be about? Leadership? When Moon wasn't in the battle Mars seemed to be leading the group. Could they be trying to gain leadership over the other?
Why don't we attack them in their civilian identities? One is that their abilities don't seem to be operating when in those forms, and we need their powers fully functional when we take them. Two is that innocent civilians could be caught in the crossfire. Not that it would worry my supervisors any, its just how I operate. No matter, that was for another time. The people have started showing up for the performance. If Merxix's information was correct it was only a matter of time before the Senshi show up.
It was an hour after the performance had begun when the Youma attacked. It was like a
cross between a woman and a plant. From earlier intelligence reports, the creature would now
start draining people of their life energy. It didn't take to long to drain most of the group down
there dry. Only years at this kind of work allowed me to stop myself from firing on the monster
as it sucked those people dry. You have to look at the larger picture. Still watching it suck
children dry made me sick to my stomach and the need to retire grew in my thoughts. I muttered
a few unmentionables about what I would do to Merxix if I found out that he was responsible for
this. The Youma didn't get the chance to finish it's task, for the Senshi decided to show up just
then. While individually they could not overcome the beast, together they complimented each
other very well. Mercury would get readings of the creature and feed the information to her
comrades, then they would work together to finish the beast. They were all concentrating on the
thing when my window of opportunity opened up. Moon was just about ready to use her
finishing attack. Nothing else existed around them, just the battle. Their short sidedness is my
point of opportunity. Sliding the cartridge into the chamber, I set up my sight hairs. Wind, 2.3
knots per hour. Target? Motionless. Lock onto target. Exhale. Fire! The other Senshi didn't
even notice Sailor Mercury drop, her computer shattering on the pavement. With that done, I set
off the surprises that we had setup earlier. Sweeper and Wiper were already moving as the entire
area was blanketed with a bright intense light. Their goggles allowed them to navigate the short
distance from the van to Mercury and back again before the light cleared. Through my binoculars
I watched as the Senshi found the computer and the blood from their fallen comrade. It was time
to leave. I would review the recording of the situation back in the comfort of the bunker. I still
could not help but notice that Moon and Venus were openly shedding tears, even bawling. Mars
and Jupiter were also shedding tears but in a more dignified manner. Again I wondered about
what I was doing and who for as I left.
By now the Senshi should be in disarray. One of their own has disappeared, seemingly killed. Not only was she a friend of theirs, she was also the eyes to all that they had to go up against. They were scared. Not knowing who had done it, for all they knew it was a rival group of theirs, possibly the ones who had been sending the Youma. Also they were probably now very angry as well. They would be more cautious about the next time they go against an opponent. Merxix was very pleased by the video that I had shown him. Edited of course. After that I had to go over some of the additional information that Mole was able to pickup after the attack. It raised quite a few questions as well as answered some. The Floater showed up to comfort Sailor Moon. He was cursing himself greatly for his lack of vigilance. I received a small surprise. Those two cats that hung around with the group could talk. According to the audio we got on the situation put them as the group's mentors. Something about a crystal and raising Mercury up from the dead! They could raise themselves up from the dead? How did they manage that? Well I don't have to worry anyway, even if they could raise her they would have to find the body first. Even with all their abilities they wouldn't be able to find her even if they tried. With the possible exception of Sailor Mars. She seems to have some kind of ESP in her civilian form. That could cause trouble.
I had to go over a few things before I started plaining the next raid. But with the Senshi's
eyes clouded the rest of the mission should go smoothly. I made my report to my superiors,
omitting certain details. I then went to look over my special package.
Mission Priority Two: Disorganize the Group Leadership
That ability of Mars jeopardizes the mission. It wouldn't do for the group to find the bunker. Not only would it be a hassle to change locations. There was also the possibility of one of my operatives getting injured in the attack. While it comes with territory, still I look after my own, every one of them is my responsibility.
We wouldn't be needing Merxix's help on this one. We had already known Sailor Mars civilian identity and where she lived. Actually we know everything that was ever written down about the whole group not just Mars, and a little that isn't written down. It was when both her grandfather and his assistant were away training when I had decided to hit the shrine. The other members of the Senshi were already on their way to school. Mars was cleaning the fire pits today. One of the utmost rules of survival. Never get into a schedule. For then people can follow that schedule and strike when you least expect it. Again it was fortunate that we were up against amateurs and not professionals. Their power levels would have made them too dangerous if they knew what they were doing.
I had Mole combine images of Youma from previous encounters. It wouldn't do to have her to recognize her attacker so that she wouldn't power up. And as I said, we need them at their highest power levels. Using a holographic projector, sound amplifier, and minor pyrotechnics should be all we need to get her active. Something Mole found out was, that according to popular myth, when a demon of some such enters a shrine to the Gods, the shrine gong would sound off all by itself. So it was the night before the assault, I had setup a simple device in which to make the gong sound off as soon as the holograph appears. That should be all it would take to convince her of the danger.
Everything was going according to plan. We activated the hologram, causing the shrine gong to sound off. A few techno-blasts and a small light show had Mars out there launching off fire blasts at the fake Youma. I have to admit Mole did a good job of controlling the hologram, if Mars would have hit it, she would have known it for what it was. Unfortunately just when we thought it was over a large blast of water hit the 'Youma' causing Mole to 'kill it'. The so called Outer Senshi then arrived. This was not good, time to launch faze two of the plan. With that Mole activated two other 'Youma' and a higher grade of explosives. Using smart links to the holographic projector Mole was able to simulate wounds on them. Time for me to take an active role in this. This kind of thing calls for something up close and personal. With that I caused an explosion under Mars as soon as she step in the vicinity of one the mines. From experience I have learned that the Senshi can take a lot of damage before being seriously injured. Still it stunned her long enough for me to take her. A quick shot to the back of her head did it. I barely evaded the blast that Pluto sent my way. She was a big unknown. We could never get any readings on her.
I had to hurry, if I didn't get Mar's body out of here they would probably just revive her, plus they would probably take exception to my attacking them. So I did the only thing I could in that situation, and hoped that my men could get to us before we all woke up. With that I pulled out a psycho-ball. What is a psycho-ball you might ask? It causes a large blast which temporarily causes a total seizure in the brain of those caught in the blast radius. In layman terms, that means that a person is brain dead for a few seconds. Causing the target to lose consciousness for five to ten minutes for normal humans. Seeing how they use psionics I assumed that they would have at least a little psychic shielding. So for these people I had to use a slightly more powerful one. I wanted to make sure it got them. Unfortunately for me I was in the blast sight. So that as soon as I set it off, blackness over came me.
I awoke in the med room. Did I ever have a headache. It seemed that the more powerful
blast left me unconscious for more than a day. There was a report waiting for me on the stand
next to the bed that I was in. It seemed that it only keep the Outer's out for a few minutes before
consciousness returned to them. We were able to get Mar's body, along with myself. We did
not get any of the Outer Senshi, but that wasn't our priority anyway. Still I did not like the fact
that we were surprised during a mission. I had no illusions to what the Senshi would have done
to me if I had not escaped. What would you do if someone killed two of your friends and was
hunting you. Still I don't like being surprised like that. Surprises can be deadly in my line of
work.
Mission Priority Three: Eliminate all unknown variables
I learned something very upsetting today. It seems that Merxix knows the people who have been sending the Youma to attack the populace. I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of them. While I had no hard evidence about this, I still trusted my instincts. With that I appropriated a little something left over from a special project a government had worked on. It never hurt to be prepared incase your hunches payed off.
Anyway it was time to put the next step of the operation into affect. This would call for something different than the previous exercises. Not only would their be more than one mark this time, but the scale of this battle would be very large indeed. After the last almost failed mission. I did not want anymore surprises. I needed something to draw out those three other Senshi along with this Tuxedo Kamen. They could throw off any plan that was set in motion to take out the three remaining Inner Senshi. Merxix said that he could get more than one Youma to attack them this time as well as another something to cause them hassles. Who this other something was he wouldn't say. I don't like information being kept from me, especially information about a mission. Not when my men and myself would be jeopardized, still he would not say anything. He just said that she was sure to draw the others from hiding.
The three remaining inner Senshi were very cautious over the next month. They made what should have been simple operations into very dangerous situations. It seems that they were expecting us to attack them at any given time or place. From the tails I put on them they still believed that their identities were still unknown to us. Good, that will put them off guard when the next strike occurs. For two of the Senshi went to the same school. Moon and Jupiter. Venus went to a private school along with Mars, but she was no longer a problem. That meant Venus wouldn't be in the picture. Still it was better to be safe than sorry.
Again I set up a good distance from the back of the school where the battle would take place. I don't really like the idea of endangering that many children, unfortunately I couldn't come up with any other idea in which to draw the Outer's and Tuxedo Kamen out from hiding. Tuxedo Kamen would be simple enough to draw since he always appears when Sailor Moon is in danger. That is why I knew he would not be there to help Mars. Still I made precautions to see to the safety of large majority of the students, though it cost me a little extra. I'm not one to put a value on children's lives no matter what my job is.
A woman with long green hair appeared from a sphere of black light in the school field. She was dressed in a very nice two peace grey suit. After looking around she then proceeded to call forth the Youma from two crystals that she had brought with her. One appeared to be serpent woman where the other resemble something of a Satyr. Both of the Youma were female in appearance. They didn't hesitate to start creating havoc.
It took ten minutes fifty-two seconds for the Senshi to show. Seeing as they were already in the area, this response time showed their uncertainty. They appeared to very cautious for they did not even give those silly speeches that usually marked their entrances. As usual Jupiter started the combat, when she let loose a ball of lightning one of the Youma. The woman in the suit made some kind of snide remark that I couldn't hear from my position. It seemed to enrage Jupiter, but then well, it didn't take much to do that.
The battle took no more than five minutes before Tuxedo Kamen showed up. By then the Senshi were on the ropes, most of their attacks did little damage to the Youmas and no damage to the Green haired woman. Just Tuxedo Kamen's appearing on the scene seemed to encourage the Inners on. Enough so that they started retaliating with more spirit than before. Although he helped, they were still overpowered. They had fallen back to a vacated construction zone near the school. One to make sure no bystanders were involved, and two, so that they had more cover from their opponents assaults. The Youma larger size gave them a disadvantage in this way. I believe I underestimated Tuxedo Kamen, he was able to hold his against the suit. I'll give them five more minutes before launching the assault. That will give the Outers time to show up.
Again I'm surprised on how lucky these Inner Senshi are, especially that Sailor Moon. It looked like snake-lady was going to crush Moon with her coils only to have the Senshi leader trip over a rock and tumble down a slope. This caused the snake-lady to strike a steel girder, which in turn caused a pile of said girders to fall upon her crushing her easily. That just left the single Youma and the Green hair suit. Still the team wasn't having an easier time of it.
Alright looks like the Outers won't be making an appearance for this one. Looks like Tuxedo Kamen will be our only target this time. The difference with this being that, we don't need him. Powers or anything, the only reason why I didn't have him taken out in his civilian form, was that I thought that he had some connection to Sailor Pluto. She was the only Senshi that we had almost no information on.
What little information Merxix was able to give me, made me sweat. Sailor Pluto possessed time warping capabilities. That not only made her more dangerous than the rest, it also made her an anomaly. For as far as I know, no government on the planet possesses those kinds of abilities. After the Sailor Mars abduction, she has been laying low. Even when Sailor Neptune and Uranus showed up to fight lately, Sailor Pluto remained absent. No time for that.
Time to do the dirty deed. I brought Silent-Thunder to bare on Tuxedo Kamen. This would be a simple wetworks, not an abduction like the previous ones. I was about to take my shot when Mole sent word that the two missing Senshi had been spotted. Still no Pluto. From what she could observe from their mannerisms was that they were waiting for us to strike. It was an ambush. Still to dangle the Inners like bait in front of us, showed a professionalism that I did not expect from this group. I would have to be more careful with these two. They worked well as team and were cold about their work. It only made my impression of them go up. Still this is a chance to test their resurrection capabilities. This time I loaded two different cartridges into the magazine. These shots will be more difficult than Mercury's, as the Kamen is moving quite quickly. I'll also have to be able to empty the second round into him before he hits the ground.
Wind speed, 1.8 knots per hour. Target moving. Wait for it. Wait for it. There! Tuxedo Kamen and the Green haired suit are lock in hand to hand. Hmm, she's stronger than she looks. I wait until Kamen's back is turned towards me. Exhale. Squeeze the trigger. Fire. Fire. Two rapid shots are sent to their target. The first shot took Tuxedo Kamen in the back of the head, the second in the lower spine. The Green haired suit did not like the idea of brains splashing over her, so she beat a quick retreat. Interesting. As soon as I took down Tuxedo Kamen, Sailor Moon dropped as well. A psychic link perhaps? A matter for another time, I signal for the rest of the group to fall back. We did what we came to do.
Reviewing the scene back at my office, I noticed that even after Tuxedo Kamen was killed and Sailor Moon passed out, that Sailor Uranus and Neptune still did not come out from hiding. Even though Jupiter was having her tail waxed. Soon afterwards Sailor Venus finally showed up to help the badly wounded Jupiter. After five minutes more of battle, they combined a attack from the two, which finished the Satyr Youma off. They then proceeded to become sick upon seeing Tuxedo Kamen's body.
A good ten minutes after the battle was over Neptune and Uranus quickly entered the scene grabbed the unconscious Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen's body, then darted off out of camera range. The other two remaining Senshi followed. I did not worry. For that second round that I placed in Tuxedo Kamen's spine was a combination tracer and scanner. We could find them anywhere, and if they came resurrect Tuxedo Kamen, well then we'll be able to get a reading on the energy used to accomplish it.
It was two hours before the group came to a complete stop in the Warehouse district. Smart. They didn't want to chance anyone following them. It would have been a good idea if not for the tracer that I placed in Tuxedo Kamen's spine. Even before energy started flowing into the body, our external sensors started reading a high output of energy in the area. The read outs that we were getting from Kamen's body were amazing. To amazing in fact. For after about thirty seconds after the energy started flowing into his body, our readings went off the scale. Then our monitors exploded from the power over load. Not before getting a sample of the energy though. That was quickly sealed off incase the Senshi could detect it.
Over the next couple of days my scouts were able to inform me that not only was Kamen still alive but that Jupiter and Moon were healed of their previous injuries. Amazing. Simply amazing. I have seen some interesting stuff in my days, but even the psionics people at Cassandra could not heal bodies that quickly. And resurrections. If that was the kind of power these kids are holding it isn't a wonder that these people want them. I'm almost tempted to call home base and give a whole report on the situation. The thing being that they would probably come busting over here screw up my operation and make those that I am currently lent to very upset. That and I am beginning to question my actions, and not for the first time too.
After reviewing more information on my targets, I turned off the lights. I think it was time
for me to do some very serious thinking. Wether I completed this assignment or not, chances are
that I wouldn't survive no matter how it goes. Not that it bothered me. You come to expect that
kind of stuff in this line of work. Besides I always have a backup plan incase of an emergency.
What will tomorrow bring? Good question.
