PM Productions Presents
A Phillip Masters Fanfic
Armageddon [opening scene]
Warning: Dark and graphic...

Ikari Shinji looked on into the blackness. He was almost sure he
was dreaming, however, the distinction between dream and reality was so
small as to be inconsequential. He was standing in a shallow pool of
what he figured was water. He could hear the light splashes as he
shuffled his feet slightly, feeling not at all comfortable in this
place.
A sudden light shone in front of him, making his eyes squint. A
figure formed in front of him, gossamer wings spreading from it to each
side. He tried to make out the person, but their face was obscured
somehow.
The character was definately female though, by the shape of the
body. The person was entirely nude, her incandescent pale skin exposed
to the darkness.
Then, in a smaller flash, the wings vanished. Yet, the face came
into clear view. A face Shinji would know anywhere. "'kaasan," he
whispered, feelings of love and dread permeating his soul.
His mother smiled at him softly. She closed her eyes and a dull
glow came from her stomach. When her eyes opened again their brown
turned to red. Her chestnut hair took on a blueish tint as well.
"Shinji, my child," she said in a dulcet tone, "The fate of the world
will lie in your hands. I give you my power to assist you in your
destiny." With this proclamation, his mother dug her hands into her
stomach.
"'kaasan!" Shinji cried, lunging forward with his hand extended.
His fingers came into contact with an invisible field, seperating him
from his mother. Though invisible in itself, the impenetrable wall
pulsed with red concentric circles that radiated from the contact with
his finger tips. He found himself frozen, stuck to the transparent
barrier.
On the other side, his mother continued to dig into her midsection.
The flesh ripped aside as she grasped something buried within. She
began to pull something from herself slowly, a terrible sound of rending
flesh coming to Shinji's ears. The object soon made itself out to be an
ornate sword. The hilt was wrapped with leather, and the hand guard had
seven diamonds embedded in it. An impossibly long blade followed, being
three meters easily. The horrible weapon lanced out from his mother's
bloodied hands, to come hilt first toward Shinji. It penetrated the
invisible barrier without contest and continued toward him. He could do
nothing as it flew into him. He was surprised to find it nothing more
than an apparition, passing through his skin without feeling or damage
of any kind. He was able to read a chiseled phrase that was engraved on
the side of the sword.
'Those who destroy have an equal power to create.'
He wasn't sure of the significance of the sentance, but he had the
feeling it would be important to his future.
As the last of the blade vanished inside of him he looked back up
to his mother. She was looking at him with a mixture of love, pain, and
pity. The hole where the sword had come from was once again whole.
Then, she suddenly threw her arms out to the side, her head flying
back to look upwards. Black tentacles exploded from her chest
powerfully. Shinji screamed out to her as they began to wrap themselves
around her form. Constricting, they tightened his mother's body into a
hideous figure. She was thinner, standing on skimpy legs, with
waif-like arms now hanging at her sides. Only her head remained
uncovered, still glaring into the blank 'sky' above.
The mess surrounding his mother's form began to spread over her
neck and up to her face. The rest of the mass began to alter its color,
turning purple with patches of green.
Shinji could just stare, slack jawed, as the transformation
overtook his mother. He could do nothing as her head was engulfed. A
spire rose from her forehead as the purple tinted her head completely.
Her head fell forward, though it was no longer *her* head. She was now
something else, a terrible something. It looked mechanical, yet
contained curves that were human in appearance.
Shinji felt that he could move again, but was unable. The only
thing he could do was stare into the vacant and blank yellow eyes of the
thing before him. He began to move away from the creature, gaining
speed with distance.
The thing raised a spindly hand toward him, almost as if it were
begging for something. He didn't know what it was, but for a fleeting
moment his mother was there, surrounding that thing instead of vice
versa.
However, his cry of "'kaasan!" was lost to the void as he was taken
back into reality.
END PROLOGUE
Okay, send all comments and such this way (especially if you want to see
anymore at all of this story). The plot of this will follow neither X
or Eva, but have elements of both intertwined (as you may have noticed).
Hope to hear from you and thanks for reading...
