Sure he did - after Shinra stole it from him.  Remember, when you first
meet him in Rocket Town, he rants about how Shinra's taken all his dreams
- the space program, his airship, and now the Tiny Bronco...  Heck, his
full name is Cid Highwind, which would seem a bit of a clue.

Great fanfic, by the way, or at the very least a great first chapter.  I
think the author's pretty much nailed Cid's character, to say nothing of
Shera's.  If he can keep this up for the rest of the cast, or whatever
subset he chooses to focus on, he's got a winner here...
