PM Productions Presents
A Phillip Masters Fanfic
Counterworld
Prologue

Saotome Ranma awakens on this particularly beautiful summer morning
with a feeling of dread. Not that he normally didn't wake up with a
feeling of dread, just this time is different. This time he feels as
though things won't go as well as they usually do. That this time,
perhaps, someone would get hit and not get up. That, maybe, Akane would
get kidnapped, and he wouldn't be able to rescue her.
Of course, he thinks, it could just be that cookie Akane went
through painstaking trouble to make for me last night.
He is still not sure if she actually baked a confection, or just
dug up the closest cookie-shaped rock from the backyard. He doesn't
really *want* to know either.
He finally gets up, stretching the night cramps from his joints.
Smacking his lips a bit, he looks around. He lips freeze, his jaw
hanging open a bit. He blinks his eyes a few times, trying to figure
out if he's seeing things.
He is not in his room. By the local decor, he is no longer on
Earth. He turns around in a slow circle, taking in everything around
him. There are forty meter high trees surrounding him, with muti-hued
flowers adorning their branches. Said branches seem to be moving in and
out of reality, confusing the eye as they fade and solidify ever so
slightly. The ground is covered in what seems to be a fine layer of
pine needles. He has yet to see a Pine Tree.
After turning about a couple of more times, he sighs. "So, this is
what Ryoga feels like." he states. He looks around a bit more, then
shrugs. He looks to the heavens and bellows, "Where in the world am I
now?!"
Wow, he thinks, that really does feel good.
Unfortunately, it doesn't bring him any closer to an answer.

I open my eyes to see light streaming into them. This is odd,
considering I went to sleep under a roof last night. It also hurts. I
slap my hand over my sore eyes, rubbing them slightly.
Okay, now what's happened to me? I've been through a lot before,
but it usually doesn't involve waking up in a place other than where I
fell asleep. I've been in the infirmary after getting knocked
unconscious, but that's different. There was no Angel attack last
night, and I did not have to pilot. So, what is going on? Perhaps my
surroundings will reveal something?
I open my eyes again, blinking back the sun's harsh rays. The
first thing I notice is the fact that three suns are now in the sky.
This instantly leads me to believe that I am no longer on Earth. I pan
my gaze to the right. There is a forest there, the trees lined up
straight as an arrow along the edge. It would be unnatural looking,
except for the fact that the trees didn't stay in that pattern. Once
beyond the threshold, the trees began a very random pattern.
Wait. Those trees are over forty meters high. That is tall for
trees. Also, there are no trees on Earth that have such muti-colored
flowers, and branches that either disappear or can somehow bend light
around themselves.
I place my hand on the ground and something sharp stabs me. I look
down to see the ground is coated with what seems to be pine needles.
However, there is no source for these needles that I can find in the
area. Perhaps they are dropped by something airborne?
I push myself up from the ground, noticing that I'm still in my
plug suit. I accidentally fell asleep in it yesterday due to my
exhaustion from testing. I suppose it's for the best. The suit is
geared for all weather conditions, yet flexible and water retentive.
Though, I don't think I'll have a problem with water, unless the
indiginous plant life doesn't need it.
Opposite the tree line is a plain. A vast plain. It seems to
stretch beyond the horizon into the distance, never ending. An infinite
sheet of green spreading on forever. Either this place is flat, or it
is a very big sphere. So big in fact, that if the laws of gravity are
applied correctly here I should be crushed instantly. Seeing that I am
not, I assume this place is flat, not ready to admit the laws of physics
are not in effect. That would mean I am not only no longer on Earth,
but not in my Universe at all.

What is it about waking up in another Universe?
That's what Washu asks herself as she stares at her surroundings.
Go to sleep in one world, wake up in another. She should be used
to it by now. Well, she's not. Washu likes being in control of the
situation, and right now, she is most definately not in control.
"Well," she says to no one, "I guess I'll have to go and make
myself in control!"
With that, she walks off into the peculiar forest she's suddenly
found herself in.

END PROLOGUE
Well, I don't what in the hell I'm doing, but I'm starting another odd
series. Sorry. I just can't help it. Life shall be written, so don't
think this is ursurping it, just going along with it. Well, send
comments galore and thanks for reading...
