I'd say that's a sign of wanting to write something good, rather than
writing the way it comes out. Some people need another person to help them
with this, others can do it themselves. I'd say it's a good thing, and
wouldn't want to stifle it, were I you.
I'll agree in part with what you're saying. What I meant by calling it a
malady is it makes it much harder to appreciate a good story if it has lot of
repetition of phrases and so on. Otherwise I think it's a good thing. (I was
reading "Ona Redside" when I wrote it. The version I read had several phrases
reused verbatim in the same paragraph through the story.)
