An Iczelion/Teknoman crossover
OPERATION: LIGHTSPHERE
Phase 1, Chapter 3
(Insert Disclaimer Here)
Any and all C&C *NEEDED!!!*. MSTs especially welcome.
******************************
I heard about a person who had a broken heart,
With nothing to drive him on - no hope, no spark, no faith.
He couldn't see at all, to see the pride ahead,
He kept it all inside, the guilt and all the pain.
You know, I say, I tried to warn him
They had him backed up against the wall,
I hope I'm not too late!
No-one can tell you exactly what you have gotta be -
You've got to stand your ground, and fight to save your life!
It may be hard, but, ooooh, it's the only way.
Always remember it, there ain't no second prize,
There ain't no second prize.
- Jimmy Barnes, "No Second Prize"

"Kawai-san ... gomen ne. You got hurt protecting me because
I was too scared to fight." Kawai had fallen into
unconsciousness shortly after Saber had retreated, and Nagisa
stood over her as she lay, still in her Iczelion armor, on a bed
in the base's medical center. The medscanners indicated the
Silver Iczelion to be stable, and there were no visible wounds,
but she lay completely still, without even seeming to breathe.
Nagisa rubbed her eyes, trying to fight off sleep. She had
to be with her new friend when she awoke, she had to apologise
for putting her in danger. What was a little lost sleep compared
to trying to reconcile her for those things?
"Kawai." Nagisa paused, as if she had momentarily forgotten
what she was going to say. "Kawaisou*."
* You poor thing.
* * * * *
"I see." As usual, there was no detectable emotion in
Darkon's deep voice. "The servants of my masters' enemies have
arrived."
"That is true, my lord." Saber kneeled before the
TeknoWarlord. Saber was not the only one of Darkon's servants
that was currently present - Axe, Lance and Sword were also in
the chamber.
"Sword, Lance. You shall dispose of those girls. Axe, you
shall remain in reserve. As for you, Saber..."
"Yes, Master Darkon?"
"I shall give you another chance to dispose of your brother.
If he should manage to ally with our masters' enemies, our hold
on this planet may be jeopardized."
Lance laughed. "Darkon, you need not worry. I can destroy
him and the three Iczelions by myself."
"Silence, Lance, I did not ask for your input. Remember
your place, or suffer the consequences. You have been given your
orders, you shall now carry them out."
After his Teknomen had left, Darkon turned, casting his eyes
over the pods lining the walls of the chamber. Eight of them had
been broken out of, others were empty except for liquid, or
contained the atrophied remains of human beings. In two of them,
however, were armored figures - two more teknomen, almost ready
to come to maturity.

"Blade, I understand that you've been under a great deal of
stress recently." The tall. middle-aged albino began. "However,
that in no way excuses the injury you did to Ringo. I cannot and
will not tolerate your harming another member of the Space
Knights. Even in your distressed state, you should have known
better. It was extremely fortunate for Ringo that he only ended
up with a broken nose." Jamison stopped speaking, observing
Blade's more-sullen-than-usual face. While on one hand he could
not tolerate Blade's attack on Ringo, on the other there was no
telling what effect unduly punishing him could have on his
already damaged psyche. "Tell me, Blade, what punishment do you
think it would be fair for me to give you?"
"I don't know. If you're trying to make me regret my
actions, Sir, then you're a little too late, because I regretted
them before I even came in here. It's just that, whenever I hear
his voice ... Saber's voice ... there's just this hatred that
flares up inside me. I don't know why that is."
"I think you do. It's because he's your twin brother, isn't
it?"
Blade simply nodded his head, and stood looking at the
floor.
"Normally, I'd have you confined to your quarters for what
you did, but you've been spending so much time there in the last
week that it's practically meaningless. You're dismissed, but if
you behave like you did again, then the consequences will be
severe. Understand?"
"Perfectly, sir." Blade turned and sullenly trudged out of
the door.
* * * * *
"Unnnn...."
Nagisa gasped with joy as Kawai groaned and opened her eyes.
"Yokatta! Yokatta! Kawai, I thought you were never going
to wake up! How are you feeling?"
"That blast from Saber almost killed me. The Iczel was
forced to shut down my consciousness show that my body could be
restored. I've recovered enough that it's safe for me to regain
consciousness, but I'm a long way from perfect." Kawai's armor
disappeared, replaced by the jumpsuit she wore when she wasn't
fighting. "In the condition I'm in at the moment, it's better
for me to be in human form. The Iczelion transformation puts a
lot of stress on the body's nervous system, so it's not a good
idea to stay in that form for excessive periods of time."
Nagisa nodded. "Kawai... you saved me. Thank you."
"Nagisa-san..."
The door slid open, and Yajin entered. "Hey, Kawai, you're
awake! Looks like our heroine-sama's recovering nicely!"
"Yajin!" Nagisa scolded. "Do you know how RUDE it is to
just walk into a lady's room without her permission?"
"Hey, I was just worried about her!"
"You could have at least *knocked*. You knew I was here!"
Yajin looked defensive. "Anyway, Nagisa, Candy wants to see
you about the incident. Kawai, you can stay here and recover."
"I'm well enough to get out of bed. I'll go, there's not
much that can hurt me while I'm just in the command center."
Kawai climbed out of the bed and walked slowly out of the door.
*
"So what do we know about this other Iczelion?" Candy asked.
"Not much. She managed to chase Saber off, but he was
already wounded from his fight with Kawai." replied Nagisa. "She
said her name was Nami Shiina."
"At any rate, we have no way of contacting her, so we'll
just have to hope that the enemy don't attack in the next few
days."
"And if they do..." Yajin said, "Then Nagisa's all we've
got." As he said this, Nagisa gasped.
"Not necessarily." The tone of confidence in Candy's voice
strengthened. "I've had some research done, and I might just have
come up with a couple of little surprises."
Before Candy could elaborate, the alarm sounded.
"Sara, what's happening? Another attack?" Candy shouted at
the red-headed girl seated at the scanners.
"Looks like it, commander. A heap of spidercrabs..." Sara
trailed off. "And two blips that are smaller and faster-moving."
"What's the projected point of impact?"
Sara stared at her console. "Point of impact is... right on
top of us."
* * * * *
Blade leaned against the steel-gray wall of a corridor,
exhausted both physically and mentally - physically due to his
lack of sleep in the week since his sister's death, and mentally
due to the stress that had been on him in recent days, including
the beration that had been given to him by Jamison a few minutes
ago. He knew he'd managed to get off very lightly for what he'd
done, but that didn't seem to help him cope any better.
He closed his eyes, and yawned, falling half-asleep while
standing up. Perhaps he should lie down and try to finally fall
asleep... but he was afraid of what his dreams would bring.
"Blade, you can't go to sleep here." The young man opened
his eyes to find Star standing in front of him. "Like I've said
to you before, you've got to work your way out of this mess."
Blade groaned. "Star, it's not that easy..."
Star laughed. "I know. So, we're not gonna worry about it
for the time being. Come on, let's go get something to eat."
She laughed, and, ignoring his protests, grabbed his arm and
half-led half-pulled him down the hallway. As they approached
the doorway, Blade suddenly stopped, digging his heels into the
floor, and closed his eyes, ignoring Star's panicked questioning
of what was wrong.
{Brother, I'm coming. I'm coming to finish you once and for
all.}
{You just try it. I've been waiting to get my hands on
you.}
{Hah. You don't have your baby sister to hide behind any
more.}
Blade returned his attention to Star, his voice now,
somehow, more confident. More eager.
"Saber's back."
* * * * *
Kiri spat out an expletive. "So we've got in incoming horde
of spider-crabs, *plus* two teknomen, and Kawai's too badly hurt
to fight. Those kinda odds even make me worried."
Kawai rose from her seat. "I'll go."
"Kawai, no! You'll be killed!"
"I can't just let everyone else be hurt. And I'm not going
to just sit around here while other people are fighting against
the Rhadam." Kawai turned to Candy. "I'm going to fight."
"Kawai..." Nagisa said softly.
"All right, everybody, I said earlier that I've come up
with a couple of little surprises, and now's a good time to let
you know about them. Firstly, there's been a new type of ion gun
added to the /Sunlight/, and now's as good a time as any to make
a field test. And there's something else that we've managed to
make." Candy opened a metal box, and several large guns were
revealed inside.
"The ammunition used for these guns is fragments of
spider-crab claws. They have far better penetration than any
other weapon ever designed by humans." Kiri and Yajin each took
one of the guns. If the /Sunlight/ was put out of commission, as
had happened before, they would be needing them. Candy tensed.
"All right, this is it!"
* * * * *
"So your brother wants a piece of you again? It's about
time that guy gave us a break. Maybe you can take him out once
and for all this time, Blade." Ringo's comment indicated that
having his nose broken had in now way injured his sense of humor.
"Believe me, there's nobody who wants that more than me."
Blade's reply was dour, as usual, but this time had a hint of
anger in it."
"I've got several spider-crabs coming in at eleven o'clock
high." Star said, and the /Blue Earth/ turned in the direction
she had indicated. Blade turned and ran to the back of the
vessel.
"Pegas, POWER ON!!!"
"Affirmative."
"Open the interlock chamber!"
The chamber swung open, and Blade leaped inside. Emerald
energy seethed around and through his body, filling him with
vitalizing flame. Finally, he was back.
"TEKNO POWER!!!!!!!"
* * * * *
"All right, here we go!" Kiri yelled, as the /Sunlight/
flew at the horde of descending spidercrabs, and in the cockpit
with her and Yajin, the still-untransformed Nagisa let out a
terrified scream. Energy blazed from the new ion gun and a
number of spider-crabs were blown apart, but the creatures killed
were only one small part of the horde that they faced.
Kawai blasted any spider-crabs who came near her, but the
mindless horde was not her concern. She had to fight the enemy
teknomen, the warriors of the Rhadam whom only she stood a chance
of defeating - she and Nami, but Nami was not here at the moment.
It was only a few moments before she caught sight of one.
"Oh my. It looks like the little Iczelion has crawled out
of her hospital bed to save her friends." came the contemptuous
voice of the white-armored Teknoman - Lance, she knew. "Sorry,
but I can't say I'm impressed. Unlike that fool Saber, even if
you were at your full power you still wouldn't have a chance
against me." Lance let out a laugh. Kawai inwardly smiled -
Lance was overconfident, and that might give her an edge. That
was, if his overconfidence wasn't justified.
"Kiri, we've got another pinger coming in at us!
Twelve-thirty high!" cried Yajin. Before he had finished
speaking, Kiri's sharp eyes had caught sight of the enemy - an
enemy that was smaller and faster-moving than the spider-crabs.
"Shit."
The silver-and-red-armored figure of Sword sped toward them,
and Kiri desperately tried to evade her attack. She succeeded in
swinging the /Sunlight/'s cockpit out of the line of Sword's
attack, but could not completely evade it.
Sword swung her teknolance, and sliced off one of the
/Sunlight/'s wings.
* * * * *
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another battle
was going on...
"You want me Saber? Here I am, come and get me!"
"Ah, so you're here, Blade. Here to be destroyed." Saber
laughed and flew at Blade, and the brothers clashed in their
deadly duel.
"I'll never forgive you for what you did to Shara!" Blade
growled at his twin. "I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!!!"
"Oh, that's fine by me." was Saber's reply. "You needn't
worry, Blade, because ... YOU'LL SOON BE JOINING HER!" The
battle between the two, if possible, intensified.
The two fought for several minutes, with neither gaining a
clear advantage. Each of them had taken several minor hits, but
nothing serious enough to make either of them consider retreat.
However, Blade didn't know how long he had to go until his time
limit expired.
{Time to change my strategy} Blade flew up and backward,
away from Saber. Saber flew after him, determined not to let his
prey escape. He realised his mistake when Blade's
shoulder-plates flipped upwards, revealing the sets emerald
globes from which Blade's energy weapons fired.
"TEKNO POWER BLASTERS!!!!!!"
Saber screamed as the wave of green energy slammed into him,
blinding anyone who looked at it. When it cleared, Saber was
gone.
"Did we kill him?" Ringo asked.
"No. He's only retreated." was the reply from Blade.
"He'll be back."
* * * * *
Nagisa, Yajin, and Kiri climbed out of the wreck of the
/Sunlight/. They were all slightly shaken, but Kiri had managed
to use the ship's emergency thrusters to slow their descent, and
prevent any serious injury from being done to any of them.
However, this was likely to be a very temporary measure.
Especially considering the fact that Teknoman Sword was currently
hovering above them.
"Do you humans really think you could stand up to Master
Darkon?" Sword's question was laced with venomous contempt.
"How foolish." She brought her teknolance forward, preparing to
slice through the humans' soft bodies...
...and suddenly turned upward, dodging an energy bolt fired
from behind her. Nami Shiina flew at Sword, who growled to
herself and returned the gesture.
"I suggest that you don't take us humans so lightly." the
Black Iczelion commented. "We can fight very well, when we have
to." The two fought, with Nami forcing Sword onto the defensive
and away from the wreck of the /Sunlight/.
Meanwhile, Kawai's fight against Lance was not going well.
She couldn't get a hit through, and her condition hindered her
ability to dodge. This resulted in her having taken a number of
hits - nothing serious yet, but the more shots that had hit you,
the more that were going to.
Lance flew at her. Kawai managed to dodge his blade, but
the back of Lance's forearm crunched into her neck, slamming her
into the ground. Lance landed a few meters away.
"Well, that was pathetic." Lance said in his usual
condescending tone as he approached, his armored feet slamming on
the ground. "I don't know how you even managed to stand up
against somebody as incompetent as Saber."
A spray of spider-crab claw fragments slammed Lance's armor.
Almost all of them merely ricocheted off, but one struck the
armor joint in the Teknoman's wrist, causing him to let out a
brief gasp of pain. He turned to face his attacker - Yajin.
"So one of the little mice has managed to scratch me - an
admirable effort. BUT UNFORTUNATELY, FUTILE!!!" Forgetting
about Kawai, Lance advanced on Yajin.
Nagisa let out a gasp of terror. Yajin was going to die.
So was Kawai. So was Kiri. Everyone was going to be killed by
this arrogant, sadistic monster, a servant of a warlord who
wanted to wipe out the entire Earth. She wished she could fight
that monster. She wished that god, *any* god, would grant her
the power to defeat him.
{But I *DO* have that power.}
"LANCE!" she yelled, rising to her feet, her fists clenched
and her knuckles white with fury. "If you want to hurt Yajin, or
Kawai, or anyone else... YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY AND KILL ME
FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Her Iczel teleported, appearing beside
her. "CHARGING!!!!!!"
Lance never knew what hit him. One moment, he was standing,
contemptuously watching the girl preparing her pathetic attempt
to fight him, the next something had slammed into his chest and
knocked him over backward. He leaped into the air, planning to
slice his opponent in two, but Nagisa flew at him, a beam sword
appearing in her hand. Lance hurriedly made a swing at her, but
Nagisa's attack sliced through his weapon, and his right arm,
severing it at the shoulder. There was only one option left -
retreat. Turning, he tried to make his way away from the battle.
Nagisa teleported in front of Lance, blocking off his escape
route.
"Oh, no, you don't. You're not getting away." Bringing her
arms together, she built up a charge of white-hot energy.
"No... no... NOOOOO!!!!!!" Lance let out a scream of agony
as he was engulfed by Nagisa's energy blast. Sword, seeing Lance
vaporised by Nagisa's blast, weighed up her options and
retreated. Nagisa looked on at where Lance had bee.
"Goodbye, Lance." she said. "Good fucking riddance."
She turned towards the wounded Kawai, and her expression
became one of concern.
"Kawai... are you all right?"
"Nagisa..." the Silver Iczelion rose to a sitting position.
"Congratulations."
"You were right, Kawai. You were right when you told me
that when I saw something important to me threatened, then I'd
fight." Nagisa hugged her. "I'm Iczelion Prime now, and I have
to do everything I can to help the Earth."
"I gotta admit, I didn't think you had it in you." Nami
descended to the ground, and stood over the pair. "But you just
needed the right motivation."
"Arigato, Nami-san." Nagisa said. "Kawai-san, you should
go into a healing trance. I'll carry you back to base."

********************************
Well, I promised Blade would get some action. It wasn't much,
but rest assured that he's gonna get more "screen time" as the
story progresses.
A big thank you and congratulations to Jimmy Barnes for froducing
such wonderful music over the years, originally with the band
Cold Chisel, and them going solo. It may be difficult to find
his music outside of Australia, but if you can, then as Ian
"Molly" Meldrum would say, "do yourself a favor". It will be
well worth it.
The guns with spider-crab claw fragmets as ammunition came from
the Teknoman episode "Evolution". This was episode was NOT aired
in the U.S., but down here in Oz, we were lucky enough to have
the ENTIRE series broadcast, right up to the final battle with
Darkon. (Don't you feel jealous, Warhammer?) Even so, don't
expect the humans to be running around with Counter-Flux
Polarizers any time soon.
THANK YOU FOR READING!!!
