OK, I don't want to start another Palmer-ish rant about RAAC, but I was
wondering if someone here familiar with the newsgroup could explain
something to me.
Actualy, I have no problem with RAAC, they are doing a great service
for the readers who get thier Fanfic fix through news and ftp.
(Thanks, folks.)
I don't even mind a delay between posting and showing up on the
newsgroup, it's kind of nice to get comments a while after a
story is finished.
My issue was with contests and surveys that use RAAC as a time stamp.
It's hardly fair to authors when some stories spend less than a week in moderation, and others a month or more. That's a bit like having to send
in your taxes by April 15, but your postman may take a month or more
to get around to postmarking your letter. (But on the other hand, I
usually have to pay extra, it'd be nice to have a month when the IRS
could not cash my check. ;) )
