Interesting. Now, I'm confused. Is this EVA or Totoro? Or is it that 
other Miyazaki story involving the Tanuuki people? Also to me it sounded 
like you were saying something, I am not sure though. Maybe this just 
came to mind. The following is what I think all these characters in the 
fic.

So, the tree represents the hope of man.
The man in black is all the darkness of man's evil side.
The family that lived and took care of the tree was man's good.
So, where does the Totoro play as? The mayrtr?

So many questions, so few answers.
