"I can't see you anymore."

Five simple words. But the impact of those words left Ami reeling.

How could he? How could he?

At the same time her heart was pulling itself in two, her mind was pondering
what was happening. Actually she was thinking quite rationally, unfortunately
the pain in her chest drowned out her thoughts. "Why?" It was difficult to
get any words out, but she had to know.

She _had_ to know......She had to know why he was turning away from her.
After everything that had happened. The devastating fire that crippled Rei,
and killed her mother. Losing her baby....

Urawa grew considerably paler, and slightly turned, so that he wasn't looking
directly into Ami's eyes. "Ami....Ami, please. Don't make this harder then it
already is..."

"WHY?!" She was screaming now. She reached out to grab him, but the
blurriness in her eyes grew worse, and she clutched at air. It only further
upset her, and her screams mingled with her sobs.

She felt a hand brush her face, ridding her of the tears. Urawa. Such pain on
his face. She studied him critically, her sobs becoming soft hiccups. She
smiled at him, such love and understanding in that smile that Urawa almost
backed away. "Urawa.."she breathed. "I won't forget you."

The smile left her, as suddenly as it had come, and all light left her eyes.
She looked at him vacantly. "We must go fight evil! With my magical pen..."
She giggled and twirled around in circles.

"Urawa-san, I think you should go." The voice came from behind. Urawa glanced
lifelessly at the cold-faced man. "It's over."

It's over.

The words repeated over and over in his mind.

I won't forget you.

He walked slowly to where Ami stood, stroking her hair with the back of his
hand. He flinched when he saw how she looked at him. A lifeless husk.

I did this to her. The thought struck him suddenly, and he began to tremble
uncontrollably. But it had to be done. Usagi had told him this. He had to
finish it.

"Ami.." he choked. "Ami..I love you. I will always-"

The man stopped him. "It's over." He repeated, cold impatience tainting his
voice. "She can't understand you."

But he was wrong. Ami understood. The last words she would ever truly
understand. Urawa gave her one last glance, a final glance, one he would
remember for all eternity, and walked out of the Asylum, never once looking
back.
