CRIMSON SKY
Part 13 Memory Dislocation

"Which direction has he gone to, Dr. D'Arienzo?" The man in a suit who is
sitting at the executive table asks as he takes a sip of his coffee.

"The last time we tracked him, he was leaving Industrial City, heading for
Crimson Sky."

"Crimson Sky?" The man frowns a bit at this new information. "You're
saying the neighboring planet? Why, he's heading for the secondary base
then."

"Excuse me sir?" Dr. D'Arienzo looks at the man questioningly. "Shall we
send reinforcement and bring him back?"

The man shakes his head and motions for the doctor to leave his office.
He leans back against his chair and stares out the window for a moment
before pushing the intercom and calls in someone else.

"Sir?" A young woman with light brown hair and grey eyes steps inside,
closing the door behind her. "Something has gone out of hand, isn't it? I
can tell by that doctor's face."

"D'Arienzo has no clue of what we're dealing with here." The man replies
as the woman pours him more coffee. "But the situation is still under
control."

"What is this? An experiment gone wrong?" The woman asks quietly as she
walks around and stands in front of the man. "What was the purpose of
this? I know this time it is not just some ordinary assassin you're
training here, there're more. Just what are you working up to?"

"It's just like you Ms. Bryndis Sakorian to observe things like this," the
man replies with a small smile. "Now I know why I've kept you as an
aquaintance all this time." He stands up and walks toward the window,
glancing up at the blue sky. "Crimson Sky...a planet where only three days
out of the whole year has blue skies..."

"You mean he escaped to Crimson Sky?" The grey eyes widens slightly
before they turns back to their usual emotionless expression.

"I see that you've also seen the significance of this matter. Smart
child, first he destroyed the base at Industrial City, now he is after
Crimson Sky."

"But that's the secondary base, not the main..."

"That's exactly what I admire about him," the man turns around, his face
unreadable in the shadows. "the secondary base is not important as the
main base, but essential nevertheless, part of the main system. He's going
to try to break it."

"What...should we send in people after him and eliminate him then?" She
picks up the intercom, ready to open a communication channel.

"No, that won't be a good idea. Let's just see what he's capable of doing
first...besides destroying a city."

"What is he...? I don't understand what this can achieve... For all we
know he is dangerous. What if he succeeded? Then all those years you've
spent to--"

The man stops her with a wave of his hand. "If I get defeated this
easily, how do you think I've managed to built up this empire?"

"Yes sir, I didn't mean it that way, I'm sorry about-" The woman replies
immediately.

"Calm down a bit, things are still under control. In fact it is just
starting to get interesting." He looks up and smiles at the woman, who
looks away.

"Well then, are there anything that you need us to do? We're not just
going to sit here and wait, are we?" Bryndis looks at the man with concern.

The man does not answer, he pauses for a moment before speaking up again.
"Do you know the cause of his outburst?"

Bryndis shakes her head. "I don't believe I saw that in the data file..."

"There are way too many things not in this data file. But we have the
records elsewhere and there is a reason." The man smiles again, he seems a
bit amused at the situation.

"Then what caused his misbehavior?" Bryndis asks, truly mystified.

"They tried to mess with his head." The man replies. "And it backfired."

"You mean-" Bryndis is about to say more when an explosion nearby cut them
off. "What in the..."

"Someone has tried to detonate the left wing," the man stands up as one of
the guards rushes inside.

	"Sir! The left wing! Someone...somebody...he...she..."

"It's not too badly damaged, is it?" The man walks toward the door.

	"Second degree sir."

"I see, go check for other damage," The man looks a bit concerned. He
sits back down on the sofa.

"Sir..." Bryndis starts to say something. "What do you think is ..."

"Another pro." Is the enigmatic answer she receives.

                            *****************************

Ryan rolls over so that he's on top Reshion. "My turn." He licks a path
down Reshion's neck before the latter pushes him off again. "Hey! I'm
older here, get off me!"

"No." Reshion replies flatly, his eyes unblinking. "I'm in control."

"Yeah right...you really look like you're in control," Ryan glares up.
"Bastard!" He pulls at Reshion's hair and kisses him hard.

::A blinding flash...a group of men around him ... knives ... wires ...
pain...blood...machines...A family destroyed...a girl with green eyes...an
older boy with a brilliant smile...a doctor...pain...red...::

"AAAAh!!! Shit!!!!" Ryan sits up suddenly, clutching his head.
"Damn...damn damn!!!!!"

"What did you see?" Reshion's blue eyes stare unblinkingly into the
emerald ones.

"I don't know. What...is with you?!!" The clear green eyes become
muddled in confusion. "Damn...my head..."

	"You saw something, didn't you?"

"Yes, I saw a lot of things, and it's all jumbled up. I don't know what
is real and what is not. Happy now? Why are you asking me this? It's
your memory!!!"

Reshion remains silent. "My memory...just as I thought...you saw it."

"What are you?" Ryan asks quietly, searching Reshion's face. "Just what
the hell are you?"

Reshion gets up from the floor to put on his clothes. "What is real and
surreal? Surely you know the answer to that," He steps outside and slowly
closes the door behind him. "I'm the ultimate killing machine."
