CRIMSON SKY
Part 9 Deja Vous

Reshion can care less about what grade he gets for that project. He paces
back and forth in the living room and finally decides to go get himself a
glass of water. He doesn't know why he is doing this. He can't seem to sit
still today. He looks up from the window into the sky and sees a blue light
cutting across the red background. For some reason, it reminds Reshion of a
knife cutting into the skin, bringing down rains of blood.

The water tastes metallic in his mouth, he swallows it anyway. The room is
getting hot for no reason. This shouldn't be happening to him, Reshion
knows that he never feels like this unless something's wrong, not that he
will care if it has nothing to do with him.

He sees a black car coming down the street but it makes a right turn into a
small parking lot right before it reaches the intersection. Reshion watches
on silently as he sees two men get out of the car and walk calmly into the
apartment complex across from him. Reshion steps away from the curtains as
he sees the men looking around, checking the surrounding. Something is up,
Reshion observes closely. Then it occurs to him that those men have just
entered the same building where Ryan lives. Strange indeed but the way
those men act resemble those of the assassins. But then why will they want
to enter into that apartment? If they are after him, there are definitely
other ways to go about it.

The ringing of the telephone snaps Reshion out of his thoughts. He looks at
the phone and realizes that the number has been transferred from his
forwarding phone number, meaning that whoever that is calling, is not
anyone he knows. Reshion picks up the phone cautiously and listens.

"Nemesis," the voice says. "we have your friend here with us. If you want
to see him alive, you should come here right now."

"You're lying," Reshion replies coldly. "You can forget about it." And with
those words, he disconnects.

So they have Ryan. Reshion knows that they can be lying but the chances of
that is very slim. If that's the case...that means- Reshion glances back at
the apartment across from him. Then in a swift motion, he grabs his coat
and runs out of the door. He knows that it's already too late to go to
Ryan's apartment to take care of those two men but he knows that he still
have a chance to get Ryan out of the mess. He is right, Ryan is the type
they want for an assassin, except there seems to be more things about this
whole thing than what meets the eye.

Reshion turns on the laser scan and locates the origin of the phone. He
then relocate the code used in the phone directory and find the correct
location of where Ryan is probably being held. For all he knows, Ryan may
not even be there, but that will be a risk that Reshion will have to take.

It is another one of those desert buildings again. The room is relatively
easy to find. It's a bit unusual to find that there are no traps in this
place. There are definitely a lot of things behind this event. He takes
down the man by the door easily, just one blow in the back is enough to
knock the man out cold. Reshion then pushes the door open, and before him
sits Ryan and stands the other man who holds him captive.

"So you did come after all, Nemesis," the man laughs. "domestication has
made you care."

"I'm here to prevent people like you from enforcing what was done on me on
to others," Reshion replies calmly as he eyes the gun in the man's hand.
"and to do so will mean killing you first."

"Oh? Aren't you afraid that I will kill him first?"

"You won't, because you need people like him in your group," Reshion steps
forward quickly as the man brings up the gun. Reshion kicks the gun away
from the man in preternatural speed and delivers a kick which sends him
sprawling to the ground. The man looks at him in surprise.

"You don't know a thing about me," Reshion says. "it's a common mistake for
many who have tried to kill me."

"I know you enough to say that you're a murderer. You are just like us,
killing many others," the man begins. "you belong to the same kind as
Quicksilver, and you belong to the same kind who killed her. A killing
machine, that's what you are."

Ryan holds his breath when he hears that name again. He knows what the man
is trying to do and he's succeeding, for Ryan knows that if this keeps up,
he will certainly lose his sanity.

"Ryan," Reshion speaks up suddenly. "leave him to me, I'll deal with him.
You better run home right away."

Ryan's green eyes meets Reshion's eyes and the former is shocked to see
that the pair of eyes staring back at him is now one gold and one sapphire
in color. Reshion motions to the door again and Ryan stands up rapidly as
realization and dread dawn on him. He picks up the gun from the ground and
starts running. Behind him, he can hear the man's words, "Right, send him
running back right now, that will kill him. The men are still there
cleaning up." Cleaning up? He feels cold all over, even when he reaches his
home and enters and sees fire all around. He can hear the old grandfather
clock still ticking away. Its noise driving Ryan crazy.

The dinning room door is half opened, as he approaches it, a thumping sound
now drowns out that of the clock. He pushes the door open but is thrown
back by a small explosion. Ryan coughs as smoke feels his lungs but gets up
anyway. He runs into the dining room and stands there stunned upon seeing
the body on the ground.

"Derrick..." Ryan sinks to his knees at the sight of his brother covered
with blood. Derrick's eyes are opened, but they are empty, full of death.
Ryan closes his eyes and stands up slowly, his hand tighten on the gun as
he quietly walks into the kitchen. The fire is engulfing the whole
apartment unit now, but he doesn't care. He needs to know, needs to know
what else is behind the kitchen door.

He can hear the man laughing in there. He pushes the door open and sees the
body of Mr and Mrs. Danzler. Blood splatter everywhere on the white floor
and green tiled floor. They've been stabbed to death, intestines and
tissues scattered all over the kitchen, making the whole room into a
slaughterhouse. That man, the murderer, is laughing as he lights more
things on fire. He looks up from his work and his smile vanishes upon
seeing Ryan.

"Quicksilver?" he asks himself. "Impossible!! I killed you years ago! With
the rst of the squad. You are still alive?!"

Everything seems so silent now. All Ryan can hear are the thumping of his
quickening heartbeat and the words of the man. He shakes his head slowly in
response as he feels his blood turns cold.

The man laughs again. "All the same. You look as beautiful as she is, you
must be her son. Do you like my work huh? Did you hear how they scream as
they die? Killing is good, I like their helplessness, such pathetic
creatures."

Killing, helplessness, and the sight of blood. What happened several years
ago replay itself to Ryan all over again. First her, and now Mr and Mrs
Danzler...and his brother. His only family left. The sight of the man
laughing at the scene, as if what he is doing is the most justifiable thing
in the world, Ryan can stand it no more.

Then, something in him snapped. Ryan brings up his gun and fires. The first
bullet hits the men in the right eye, the second on the shoulder, the third
on the left leg. Ryan pauses for a moment as he watches the man's surprised
expression. For some strange reasons, Ryan likes the sight of the man's
blood and he enjoys the man's scream of agony. Ryan feels a strange calm
comes over him as he smiles coldly at the man

"Go to Hell, fucker!!" Ryan says coldly as the last bullet made it to the
heart.
