How to stand out.
Being the social loner before I found anime and fanfiction, I usually
wanted to do something that would make me seem different than the
others. But, because of my naivate, I didn't know how.
Many years later, in my current state, when I decided to write a fanfic.
I wanted to do something that would make it different than all the
others, yet would be something that I would like.
Since I was really into Dragon Ball at that time, I decided to go into
something that would change the whole story. I didn't have much sense
about that, knowing that it would be a bigger job than I thought. But I
threw myself into it anyway.
The title was "Lion's Roar", it was a different fic where Chichi, Son
Goku's significant other, would get a little more backbone and fight
along with the Z Fighters against the assault of Vegita and Nappa.
During that fight, Chichi would discover a long laten power than nearly
surpassed the power of the Super Sayajin and even a touching scene much
later between Goku and Chichi after the Freeza saga.
But alas, my drive and intrest waned when I recieved little or no C&C
for it. So, I moved on. After reading copius amounts of Ranma fiction, I
wanted to do one of those as well. But yet, do something different as
well. So, I started to write "A Time for Tendou" a fic where Soun and Ms
Hinako finds their happiness. Alas, this was to suffer the same fate as
"Lion's Roar" as my interest wanes in it. I knew someday that I would
finish it.
Then, I tried to write an OMG fic. I believe some of you would recall
that as "Trial, Error, and Judgment". Now, once I am done with my
current fic, I will go back to that, fix the mistakes and have it
connect a bit with my upcoming OMG/Tekno xover. So, that one was
salvaged. Not every day you see Belldandy go berserk eh?
More recently, the cancelation of Teknoman started a fire within me that
has yet to be quenched. Because of such cruel treatment from UPN's
canceling and one of the best, in not the best, US-to-Japan translations
ever, I was more than driven to keep the legacy of Teknoman alive.
Henceforth, "Shara's Last Gift" came to be. But I just didn't want to
stop there. I needed recognition. So I decided to write crossovers with
popular series to make people say, "I know about R1/2, but what's this
TEknoman?" Once they read it, they'll probably want to know more. So,
keeping the Teknoman dream alive.
Also, I wanted to crossovers to be special, to stand out once again. So,
in Hammer's Wrath, I made Akane a villain, capable of killing anyone she
had a grudge against. And there was quite a few people that suffered for
it. THAT my friend is what makes things stand out without going
overboard.
The best way for me to continue to find ways to make it more interesting
without going overboard. Experiment around with ideas and see which ones
fit. It's worked for me.
