Comments on Flashman's comments...

1. Usagi's religion is never clearly stated in the series. During the
entire series there are only five noteworthy mentions of religion of any
sort:

-The padre Naru runs into in the graveyard, who turns out to be a carrier
of a Rainbow Crystal. This scene does not reflect any religious preference
of any of the characters, as followers of various religions still tend to
seek advice from any potential source of wisdom when they are confused or
depressed. A Shinto follower could easily turn to a Catholic priest for a
kind word or advice.

-The other Senshi assisting Rei at the temple during a fundraising drive,
where they helped her sell charms. Again, this reflect nothing about their
religious background, since they are merely aiding a friend.

-Usagi's dream of marrying Mamoru, in which they hold a Western-style
ceremony.  This is particularly worthless as an interpretation of Usagi's
religious practices, as in modern society the Western wedding ceremony has
become fashionable even among the most traditional Shinto families.

-The festival in Sailormoon S, which all the Senshi attend, at which Sailor
ChibiMoon makes her very first Senshi appearance. Such festivals have
religious connotations, but again, are often attended regardless of
religious beliefs, because they're fun.

-Most of the storyline of Sailormoon S, and for that matter, the entire
Crystal Tokyo prophecy. Using strictly these two plotlines for reference,
you could determine that Usagi herself holds *no* religious beliefs,
because she herself is destined to become Goddess of the Earth, as well as
its Messiah. 

Now that I'm done ranting about that....

One thing everyone misunderstands about the DBZ dub is the "other
dimension" part. The fact is, this *is* a reference to death, if a veiled
one. Death is often described as traversing the barrier to the next
dimension.
