I agree that most dark stories involve death, and that Mr. the
Rutsch is an important exception to such stories. (I would also count
his "Junk" as dark and without physical death.)
But he's not the only writer with such skills. I propose Susan
Doenime's black little story "Poison" for consideration. There are no
*physical* deaths in that story, but it made me turn to "Bitter End" to
lighten the mood. ^_^;;
