So are there any really good depressing fics where NOBODY dies?

There were a TON O' responses; thanks, everyone; and I sincerely hope
Tybalt doesn't kill me. :-)

Well, it is at least _somewhat_ on topic...

Is there such a fic?? Somebody who knows the title and/or author please
E-mail me.

"Hold On", by Jeff Rutsch. It's in the RAAC archive.

I completely disagree. Fics where people die and stuff like that
are darkfics or shockfics and sometimes depressing fics. One of
the problems is that there are two catagories depressing and dark
fics and in both The Bitter End is winning for both *sob*.
However a story can just be sad and not have anyone die. In
fact! *plug warning* I feel my story can be considered sad but
not dark cuz no one dies.

While I liked your story a lot, I really didn't find it depressing. Ukyo
to some extent managed to prevail against the difficulties she was
facing.

That is a point. Dark isn't determined by the body count, but rather the
mood of the story. Could you really count "Ranma Is Dead" as a darkfic?

I would also agree with Gary's assessment of Insignificant. It has sad
parts, yes, but it ends on a positive note.

(Out of curiosity, Eric, have you read Vol. 33 of the manga? Here, for the
first time, Ukyou seems to be having second thoughts about marrying Ranma.)

OH yes. There certainly are. The entire run of "Thy Inward Love" comes to

Incorrect, Zen-san. Cologne died, after all.

BTW, since when is TIL depressing? I personally consider TIL near the
WAFFy zone. Think about what happens to each of the characters through

While I don't exactly find TIL depressing, I do find it heavy in places.
I would like to know what you would consider a _really_ depressing fic to be,
if you consider TIL to be near-WAFFy.

the story, and then tell me if it seems depressing to you.

(remembers Zen's Ranma-Ukyou leanings)  Um... nevermind.  ^_^;;

This just goes to show that different people have different ideas of
"depressing"... :)

What Zenster forgets is that Ukyo's search for companionship and sexual
fullfillment was answered by one of the side stories to that series: All
it Takes is a Spatula.

If this really counts... after all, it's not in any of the archives, nor is
it on Richard's website.
